Greenland expedition 🇬🇱🧗 3 : the wall

The weather window finally arrived! We jumped on the boat and moved our base camp to another fjord, between giant needles dropping straight into the water, and a 600m-high blade of steep orange granite. There it was! 🤩

The guys started the ascent in the morning, cruising on the lower part of the wall until a big grassy ledge, to continue with some poorly protected, hard slab pitches - a treat for Jernej 😄 Day two offered another nice runout and a crazy aid pitch for Filippo, and more climbing until long after the sun set behind the mountains across the fjord 😴

We slept on the ledge, which was definitely the most amazing camping spot I've ever had! A comfy night, high above the clouds rolling in from the ocean. Jumaring on half ropes wasn't exactly a fun thing to do right after breakfast, but it had to be done 😅

Silvan led most of the the third day, pushing all the way to the top, following steep cracks and dihedrals, with a couple of sketchy, dirty pitches. We reached the summit in the early evening, enjoying the incredible views all around, the arctic sun casting beautiful shadows in the fjord far below 😍

600m of abseils and a walk in the dark later, we were at base base camp, tired, happy and grateful for this first ascent 🙏

Greenland expedition 🇬🇱🧗 2 : into the wild, and back

After more than 200km on the dinghy we finally made it to base camp. I had been there before, and I remembered a wild and beautiful place, huge walls, hiking through swamps, boulder fields and bushes, and a lot of flies. Everything was as expected - except for the flies. There were far more, and biting 😅

Forecast wasn't promising, but we made a move. A long day walking through difficult terrain with heavy packs, harassed by the flies, to reach the glacier below the massive mountain we had hoped to climb. It was soaked 🙄 We hiked up the glacier in the rain the following day, sheltering under a big boulder close to another big wall. The atmosphere was really amazing, but the rocks were desperatly wet, and after a windy night, with unpredictable weather and limited time, we decided to turn back ... 😔

Hiking all the way down in the pouring rain was quite miserable, we arrived at BC soaked, tired and a bit sad ... But we still had one card to play! 😉

Greenland expedition 🇬🇱🧗 1 : the dinghy

The plan was simple : buy a small dinghy from a swiss lake, ship it to Greenland, and go for a big adventure! 🚤 Might not have been the smartest plan, from the sceptic looks of sailors met on the way, and the worried advice of locals : "don't do that, I think you guys are a bit crazy!" 😬

We played it safe. Long waits whenever the weather was too rough, some of us hitchhiking rides with sailors or fishermen to relieve our overloaded nutshell, never going too close to icebergs (that one is not true 😅) ... With some obligatory open sea crossings and a complicated weather, we did get a fair amount of big waves, strong winds and rain! 🌊

But we could experience the wild beauty of Greenland ... freely moving around, enjoying the amazing landscapes and wildlife, the icebergs, the glaciers and huge walls dropping in the fjords 😍

Sometimes you dream about it, and eveything aligns perfectly 🌒 The moon and the sun, as expected. Add the clear skies, a perfect wind for endless soaring, and a pilot who can do pretty much anything he wants in the air! 🫡 Thank you Chrigel for believing this crazy idea can work, and for sharing this absolutely incredible eclipse flight! 🔥 For us it will never happen again ... a true once-in-a-lifetime experience 🥹🙏

Head in the clouds 😶‍🌫️ with .ita in a wild corner of the Mont Blanc massif 🧗 Great rock, fun climbing, a very short approch from the lovely Cabane de l'A Neuve, and beautiful views on Mont Dolent ... can't really ask for more 😍

Hike & fly with Chrigel Maurer above his hometown of Adelboden 🪂🤩 Enjoying beautiful views, smooth soaring, and many learnings from a great human and legend of paragliding! 🙌 Thank you Chrigel!

Gantrisch Hike & Fly 🏃🪂 1|2 With a low cloud base and weak lifts, the athletes (and the photographer) had to run more than they could fly 😅 But it seemed like the not ideal paragliding conditions didn't affect the great atmosphere, felt more like a big happy family reunion than a competition! 😊

Dufourspitze 🗻 A nice way to end the ski touring season, on top of the highest summit of Switzerland 🔝 The closed hut meant camping and carrying heavy packs, but the reward was worth the back pain 😄 Alone on these huge glaciers, surrounded by the 4000ers of the Monte Rosa massif, enjoying great views and a wild alpine atmoshpere 🤩

Four days around Monviso ⛷️🇮🇹 2|2 I've always wanted to do a ski trip in this part of the Alps, and it didn't disappoint! We were most of the time completely alone, just crossed a few other people ... and a wolf 🐺🥹 Long days finding our way through a beautiful landscape, old larches forests, endless valleys and wind blown passes ... wild! 🤩
