Something I didn’t realize when we moved to Switzerland 7 years ago is that most medows (that you see on the photos too) are not public spaces, but private land owned by farmers and used for feeding their cows.

So, actually stepping on them can damage the crops. Even if there is no fence, it is likely private, especially at lower elevations.

However, understandably, for most of us, these locations are bucket-list destinations, so we need to find a middle ground that allows us to be respectful towards the farmers and nature.

Luckily, there are rental meadows available where we can actually get permission from the owners to be there, thanks to Luxury Picnics & Proposals Switzerland

You can enjoy your own little corner of Switzerland completely to yourself, truly enjoy the experience, let your kids run free, and soak in the views without anyone else around.

A peaceful morning in the Swiss Alps and a few things I’d recommend if you’re planning your own family photoshoot in Engelberg.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve had this summer seasons was escaping the heat, even at higher elevations. My biggest advice: go early and take the first gondola up.

Not only do you get to enjoy the whole area before the crowds arrive, but the weather is still pleasant.

Another bonus is once your photoshoot is finished you still have the whole day ahead to explore the area.

Let the kids explore, Engelberg is perfect for this. Throwing rocks into the lake, jumping, climbing, running and cuddling.

The best images often happen in between.

When everyone is laughing, cuddling and simply enjoy the time together.

Mountain conditions can change quickly, but early morning gives you some of the best light and comfortable conditions for your family session.

For me the goal isn’t just to creat beautiful photos with an amazing mountain backdrop.

It’s to make the photoshoot an enjoyable family experience.
