I met a new friend on my excursion. It completely made my day!

The day before I shot this photo last week, we were blessed with 75° weather. When I woke up to go to work the next morning this is what our landscape looked like. Fast forward 3 days and our temperature today was 75° again.

This time of year is so unpredictable sometimes even down to the hour. You may wake to a foot of snow and by the end of the day the weather is warm and the snow is melted not leaving a trace of its existence in the first place.

This poor lizard. I spent better part of 30 minutes snapping pictures of him. Shortly after I stopped shooting, he met his demise when a large iguana ate him right in front of me. Just a reminder that the food chain exists all around us in life.

At least I was able to share the beauty of this lizard before he met his fate.

Oh, how I wish to be laying around in the sun like these little guys. Our weather has been very abnormal for this time of year in the Hills. Oh well. I guess I will enjoy our 70° weather today as it drops to 32 tomorrow with chance of snow.

Living in the Black Hills there is beauty everywhere you look. And if you take time to notice your surroundings you will find that you are never truly alone. While I was out on a hike I found myself in good company of another local! 😉

Hey guys!!!!

So, I have been wrestling with the decision to quit and give up on photography. That is why I haven't posted anything in months. I feel I can't capture images like so many others that I follow and look to for knowledge and inspiration. On top of everything I feel I don't have the talent to compete with this AI technology that everyone is so infatuated with.

Me personally, I prefer real images over fake ones, but there is becoming a big shift with what many people consider to be Art and it is hard to compete with that.

I had hoped to sell my images for people around the world to enjoy either in their homes, business offices, hotels, medical offices etc. However, while I get likes and comments here and there it just hasn't been what I had hoped to happen considering how passionate I am about my love of photography. I have wanted to be a photographer for National Geographic since I was a little kid. The reality is I'm not Joel Sartore, Thomas Mangelsen, Steve McCurry or others. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life but I can't seem to make any money at it.

With all of these thoughts in mind this is why I haven't posted anything new for nearly 6 months. I felt broken and defeated and lost my joy.

BUT..............

I am slowly getting my urge to snap the world around me back. Stay tuned for future photos to come.

If you see anything you would like to purchase please let me know. I would be honored to have my work gracing your walls, or being gifted to your friends/ family or even turned into puzzles for your kids and grandparents to enjoy etc.
