A trip to the mainland to the East Kootenays gave me the opportunity to see wildlife we don’t have on Vancouver Island.
This Bighorn sheep was right beside the road into our campsite!
I found out that nearly all of British Columbia's Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep reside in the East Kootenay region, home to an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 sheep.

Jupiter and Venus shining brightly in the western sky tonight.
They’re going to get closer together as the week goes on, so I’m going to keep an eye (and camera!) on them.

The Rufous Hummingbirds have returned!!!
I was thrilled to catch sight of this male early this evening!
The males arrive first , from their over 3000 km migration from Mexico.
My feeders will soon get so busy with Rufous aggressively competing with the resident Anna’s Hummingbirds. Last summer I had over 30 hummingbirds and had to refill 5 feeders every day! They would go through 2 litres of sugar water a day!
I guess I need to get stocked up with sugar!!!
