Nice to see a Red Squirrel in my backyard.
These squirrels are native to B.C. and prefer forest habitat.

A trip to the mainland to the East Kootenays gave me the opportunity to see wildlife we don’t have on Vancouver Island.
This Bighorn sheep was right beside the road into our campsite!
I found out that nearly all of British Columbia's Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep reside in the East Kootenay region, home to an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 sheep.
I only saw one!

Excited to see Jupiter and Venus over the ocean and Sooke BC. The last few nights have been overcast, so I was happy the sky cleared up and gave us a beautiful sunset to showcase the planets.

Jupiter and Venus shining brightly in the western sky tonight.
They’re going to get closer together as the week goes on, so I’m going to keep an eye (and camera!) on them.

Two deer just chillin’ in my yard.

Cirrus clouds resembling a tornado. It was really cool to see this huge formation looming above in the bright calm sky.

The Rufous Hummingbirds have returned!!!
I was thrilled to catch sight of this male early this evening!
The males arrive first , from their over 3000 km migration from Mexico.
My feeders will soon get so busy with Rufous aggressively competing with the resident Anna’s Hummingbirds. Last summer I had over 30 hummingbirds and had to refill 5 feeders every day! They would go through 2 litres of sugar water a day!
I guess I need to get stocked up with sugar!!!
