Who loves cross country skiing?
It's the best when collaborating with people that share the same passions. This campaign is about more than just skiing, it’s about sustainable adventure, local attractions, and real people at the heart of it all. Our friendly model is an eco conscious beauty and it was nice to capture her love for the outdoors.
At The Forks, with a cottage-core warming hut and fresh snow on the frozen river, this scene screams environmentally friendly.

Winnipeg’s winter has its own magic, it belongs to everyone. These images now live on published at Getty images representing globally in their "Eco-Tourism" campaign.

Remembering this Found Families winter party photoshoot as part of the Beyond Pride campaign sponsored and published by Getty Images. This shoot was all about bringing LGBTQ+ folks to the forefront of media without overt flags and symbolism. Just being our true authentic selves and the connections we make.

Some trails are too good not to share.
For another requested shoot from Getty for an insurance company the theme was seniors hiking outdoors. These two were keen and excited to take me to their favourite riverside trail at Henteleff park. This park was perfect and they were ready for a nice long hike. We captured them enjoying the path, the scenery, and even a surprise deer along the way. Being able to do the project where everyone is familiar and comfortable is so important to keeping those authentic moments rolling.
These images are full of life and charm. Grateful to be able to take on projects like this.

Were you able to see the aurora borealis in Manitoba?
This one is from summer 2024, the last time I went camping. There was a solar flare event that caused an extra large aurora over the sky. We drive a little north for our summer vacation and were able to be in a spot with minimal light pollution and overlooking the lake. Sometimes they can be so large they can be seen from Winnipeg city but I haven't experienced that for a while.

Can you spot this iconic Canadian location?
Earlier this year I met up with this beautiful woman with an iconic look. She was a little shy but I think we were able to capture some authentic moments of hanging out and running errands. We came to a spot I visit a lot, The Forks in downtown Winnipeg. There's even a little photoshopping to keep it generic enough for my inspector at Getty images, while preserving the area's historical vibes.
This way, I can bring the new into the old. New representation with our modern model, old style with historical Canadian locations.

Is it really casual moment between friends having a mid-day workout?
These lovely models arranged this shoot with me downtown on Hargrave st. It was a requested shoot showing off young adults that are having a workout over concrete. The large staircase, city streets and cemented courtyard on this block were the perfect setting and hiring a couple of friends tied up the look. So while it is true, these casual friends are having a meetup the rest was a setup to fill the customer's need.

Hundreds of pumpkins… smashed, stacked, and shot like a creative flat lay! This image was featured on Homes & Gardens in their guide on how to compost pumpkins.

After Halloween, many pumpkins end up in the garbage, but experts recommend repurposing every part of a pumpkin, even the skin, flesh, stem, and seeds. It can all be composted to create nutrient-rich organic matter for gardens. The high moisture content and minerals like potassium and phosphorus make them a perfect “green” ingredient for your compost. (I learned all that from their blog post)

I love turning seasonal chaos into striking imagery. This project was a perfect mix of color, texture, and fall energy, all while showing that even smashed pumpkins can have a second life in the garden! For this shot I went to Polo park mall after Halloween, they were having a "pumpkin smash" event to promote composting. While there, people threw their used Jack-O-Lanterns off the edge of the overhead parking into a dedicated bin. Later they were lugged off to a large compost heap.

Halloween is creeping up, and you know what that means… candy, candy, and more candy!

A couple weeks ago I was talking about copyright concerns on images. Well you might be surprised to learn this series actually passed the inspector! These shots are submitted as editorial only, which means they can’t be used to sell a product, but they can be used for news articles, blog posts, or other editorial purposes. Perfect for when brands appear in a photo, like the logos on these candy bars.

Excited to share this one! Two of my images made it onto the cover of Indigenous Peoples’ Money and Youth, a project focused on financial literacy for young people than can be found in schools across Canada!

Big congratulations to the amazing models who took part. You brought so much energy to these shoots, and it’s incredible to see your faces representing this project.

There’s a huge need for more images of Indigenous models here in Winnipeg. Whether it’s using technology, celebrating traditions, or just everyday moments. Representation matters, and I’m grateful to be part of projects that highlight it.

Manitoba’s top electric power linemen in action!

These incredible professionals were taking part in a lineman’s rodeo, testing their skills with exercises like pole change-outs, high-angle rescues, and speed climbing challenges.

As a photographer, I love capturing moments that showcase skill, precision, and teamwork, especially in unique settings like this. The sunny summer day made for beautiful lighting, and getting up close to these high-stakes exercises (With my zoom lens) allowed me to tell a story that’s both dynamic and authentic. They are perfect for editorial features, commercial projects, or industry highlights.

These talented linemen were competing for a chance to advance to the finals in Alberta, and witnessing their dedication up close was inspiring.

Two different shoots, same challenge.
Both of these sets got denied by Getty because of the artwork in the background. Even though the focus was on the people (and they were amazing) graffiti and murals are protected works. Without permission from the artist, I can’t license these for stock.

It doesn’t matter if it’s just dots on the stairs or cropped-down colors from a mural, the inspector will still flag it before publishing.

That’s part of shooting for Getty that most people don’t realize: it’s not just about your subject, it’s about the whole frame. Backgrounds, logos, street art… they all count when it comes to copyright.

Still, I love these images for what they are: bold, colorful, and full of energy. Winnipeg has no shortage of amazing walls and backdrops, and I’d hate to see these shots sit forgotten on a hard drive. So I’m sharing them with you today.

Beautiful bountiful carrots,
Shot this bunch because the colour just jumped out at me. I am always drawn to simple, organic foods. This is the the kind of stuff you see in grocery flyers and it's fun to be able to get my work out there and seen by so many people with the newspaper delivery. There’s something honest about fresh produce and healthy eating that gets my energy up, inside and out. Sometimes it’s the everyday things that make the best shots.

Did you keep a garden this summer, I would love to hear about it.
