Meet Trigger Points: our development team’s latest open-source tool that lets you control your computer (and anything else hooked up to it) by just holding up your fingers to a camera.

We made it to help with changing the backgrounds in the studio, but we want to see how other folks will use it.

Meet Trigger Points, the latest tool from our talented development team ⚙️

We made this tool to solve a very specific issue: having to run back and forth to change the backgrounds on the LED wall at .xr

Trigger Points allows us to control the computer (and everything connected to it, including the LED and to change the background) by just holding up our fingers to a camera. It works on Mac & PC, with any app that allows key mapping

And now we want to see how other people will use it! Trigger Points is completely free, open-source, and available on GitHub now – 🔗 in bio

A look behind the scenes of our latest VR project with .5s 🎥

For this project, our XR team and .video production team worked together to capture a series of intimate fireside conversations at Oodena Celebration Circle for a VR project Agency 5S was producing for their client.

This project had several technical and production challenges, including:
🌅 changing lighting conditions
🔥 live fire pit
🎥 a real-time video feed
.. all of which we were able to work with by leaning on both our XR and production expertise, while operating respectfully on the historic Indigenous site.

Collaboration is something we’re all about here, whether it’s with agency partners like Agency 5S, or internally between teams.

A Day in the Life of our Intern 🎥

Hey everyone, it’s Rae! I’m a second-year CreComm student in the Media Production specialization at RRC Polytech, and I’ve been an intern at CoPilot for the last few weeks.

It’s been really cool learning about virtual production and finally visiting the AVRO XR Studio for the first time! My main project has been scripting, storyboarding, and now filming a YouTube video about how virtual production has evolved over the years. Stay tuned!

I’m currently in my last week and honestly, I’ll miss the Bon Sushi runs, the daily walk for matcha, and most importantly, the people who have welcomed me in and always say goodbye before leaving.

Caught a glimpse of the future in Banff last week 🇨🇦 🎥

We were invited among 300 industry leaders from across Canada to attend the first annual National Summit on AI & Culture, where the Canadian Government unveiled initiatives to build, protect, and empower the creative industries through the rise of AI.

Like most, we’ve been feeling like we are living in that uncomfortable “unknown in-between” recently. It’s a delicate balance: our industry has to protect creators and IP rights, but we also can’t afford to fall behind while the tech moves faster than we can imagine around the world.

We left these discussions feeling much more confident about our country’s capacity to lead the global conversation while staying true to our unique Canadian voice (and protecting it).

At , our teams live and work everyday at the intersection of creative and tech, we’re proud to help build the guardrails for Canada’s future. Thank you to .heritage, , , Gabrielle Dellaporta, and for the invitation and including us in the discussion.

Let’s talk virtual backgrounds 🏜️

When we welcomed JUNO Award-nominated artist & the crew into .xr to shoot a visualizer for “Chickadee,” our CoPilotXR team stepped in create a 3D virtual background for the project.

This gave the Boy Golden & BNB Studios teams complete creative control over the environment, without the traditional constraints of on-location shoots, weather dependencies, or daylight limitations.

Our first international co-production is live! 🌏🎬

Since last year’s trade mission, we’s been collaborating with on Duet Beyond Borders, a multi-national co-production between South Korea, the Netherlands, Vietnam, and Canada.

Over the course of 6 months, we collaborated across time zones with KBS and the very talented to design & animate:
🎸 the opening title sequence
⏰ all animated assets used throughout the show

📺 Duet Beyond Borders is currently airing every Thursday on KBS2TV
