Hi! I’m Janelle! (Alice & Flore were my grandmothers!)

There are some new faces around here (and a resurgence in activity from me) so I thought a reintroduction was needed!

I’m first and foremost a mom and a wife. I have a 2.5 year old and 3 month old; and have been married to my husband, Chris, for 5 years this year! 🤯🩷

I will turn 30 this year, but my “forever age” is 24. I don’t know why 😂

I work in communications and am currently on maternity leave. My other passion has always been photography — lately focusing on branding and family photos 💻📸🤳

A few of my favourite things are: a crisp iced tea from McDonald’s 🥤 (was a huge pregnancy craving), jujubes 🍬, the physical act of getting onto an airplane ✈️, chandler bing, that first morning sip of coffee ☕️, trips to our family cabin, mango margaritas and long walks 🌞

I’m located in but love to travel and meet new people. I’m happy you’re here! ✨🫶❤️‍🔥

! Dug & Betty's Ice Creamery & Cafe is such a great option for lunch or a sweet ice cream treat. Their Manchego & Smoked Ham sandwich is my FAVE for lunch and the Fog & Oats cookie sandwich is my favourite sweet treat!

Hey Everyone 👋

After two months of reduced hours we have decided to extend them back to 8pm. We struggle in the winter due to the weather and lack of grab and go ice cream sales. Lunches have always been busy but it is not enough to keep our little shop running. I am nervous to reopen this early but I have faith that all of you die hard Dug and Betty’s fans will come out and support. Slow season is hard and depressing. I have so many ideas on new creations but not enough customers to buy them. Then when summer comes we get too busy to be creative. I guess that is the struggle of lots of small businesses. Trying to juggle your time and all the different hats you wear…

So I need everyone’s help, tell your friends and spread the word about our new hours. Come down and grab a cone or a pint. Make a reservation and come for dinner. Order delivery through Skip the Dishes with our new extended range.

2024 Content Branding Sessions ⚡️⚡️LOADING⚡️⚡️

Yesterday was aligning, fulfilling, joyful and truth be told, I spent the entire week nauseous from stress leading up to it.

When you have a dream or something that you’re passionate about, it CAN be daunting. You can be so scared of failure that you don’t even want to bother trying. After stepping away from my camera for a little while, I was scared I wouldn’t know what to do yesterday!

It’s like riding a bike, and I got to collaborate with my husband, / .media, & to capture branding photos for FIVE women and their businesses! What a dream. More to come ✨✨✨

I didn’t choose a word of the year this year, and I felt like I was doing something wrong because of that.

But instead, a word chose me.

I didn’t use a “word of the year generator” or search for a word in a graphic, instead the word INTENTION has kept showing up.

I want to be a more intentional mom, more intentional in how I eat, move my body, use my time AND in how I take your photos and create your sessions 📸 in everything, this will require me to slow down, plan a little more and put some extra care into everything I do.

This is just the tip of what’s to come for me this year and I think it’s going to benefit everyone - myself and my clients 🩷

Winter Solstice 🕰️❄️✨

The shortest day of the year. The day each year when my dad starts to tell me, “Janelle, tomorrow the days start getting longer.” Then in a couple of weeks he’ll inform me how much daylight we’ve gained.

When having my children, milestones mean a lot to me. With Roman they signaled a sense of “we’ve made it”. We’ve made it one month, we’ve made it to 3 months. We’ve made it to the sleep regression. Okay, we’ve made it. We can do this.

Having a winter baby, it’s different. My healing is associated with the seasons. She’s 6 weeks old as we welcome this short day and in another 6 weeks the days will be longer. It’ll almost be February. My brain fog will have cleared even more. The hope of spring will sloooooooowly start to peek through.

It’s so hard to explain how this makes sense in my head but it’s cool to experience and it’s nice to feel reassured by God’s creation. It’s neat to ground myself in what the earth is naturally doing — as it’s done for thousands of years — as my body heals from its own new phenomenon.

Happy Solstice, everyone ❄️ I hope you find comfort in this day
