Stepping into the studio, we knew we wanted to push the creative boundaries and experiment with a few different sets to see what kind of magic we could capture. 📸 From the bold, moody lighting of the first setup to the dynamic energy of the next, every transition brought a completely new flavour to the session. But the real standout of the shoot was Keyra. She brought an incredible presence to the space, effortlessly adapting to the vibe of each set and elevating the entire creative vision. ✨ Watching her work the different environments was a masterclass in versatility, and the final frames speak for themselves. Be sure to check out her page and show her some love! 🔥

Sometimes a change of plans creates the best results. 🔄

We originally aimed for The Exchange on Friday, but downtown was packed, so Danielle Dnistransky and I called an audible and pivoted to the Witch's Hut in Kildonan Park instead. Honestly, it ended up being one of my favourite backdrops for this set. 🌲

Confession time: my biggest mistake this session was leaving my flash set lower than I needed. But if there’s a silver lining to underexposure, it’s the control you have to bring up the brightness and recover exactly what's needed during the edit! 💻 It’s all about problem-solving in post.

To cap off the evening, I threw on the Retopia vintage lens for the last few frames to get that raw, nostalgic disposable camera look. 📸 Really happy with how the overall vibe turned out. ✨

🏀 Autumn Bound for the 6ix 🇨🇦

Missing those concrete canyons and the electric energy of the 6ix. May in Toronto was elite, but something tells me a fall return is already overdue. I am seriously thinking about heading back down at the end of October to catch some early-season Raptors hoops at Scotiabank Arena—especially with that home matchup against the Orlando Magic on October 30. Before I lock in any flights or accommodation, though, I just need to make sure I can coordinate with Tank's adopted aunt and godmother to see if she's available to watch our handsome little orange senior guy. Once his pet-sitting logistics are sorted, it is full steam ahead on planning the next adventure. 🐾✈️

Chasing the golden hour light, locking in those runway approaches, and watching the evening roll across the prairie skies ✈️🌅. When you've got an hour to spare, a monopod locked down, and a heavy-duty telephoto lens tracking every single touch-and-go from the edge of the tarmac, every frame tells a story of the chase 📸✨. From high-speed bursts against a fading evening cloudscape to the quiet, grounded moments right on the runway threshold, there's nothing quite like the rush of capturing raw aviation character in the wild.

We finally made it happen! After days of dodging rain, battling the wind, and constant rescheduling, I got to shoot a stunning couples session with Shayla () and Vance (Vance) down on River Road. 🌦️ We even got some rain on the day of, which meant our plans were a bit limited. But the weather eventually broke, and we caught the most incredible Golden Hour light right by the Red River. 🌅✨

Shayla and Vance are so naturally photogenic, which made this entire session a blast. As I continue my photography journey, one thing I’ve really noticed recently is how much better I've gotten at posing people. It’s arguably one of the toughest aspects of the craft. When I’m shooting landscapes or building custom sets down in my basement studio, the environment is frozen; I can control and manipulate the light around static objects. But human movement? That is infinitely more intriguing. Knowing how to pose subjects to accentuate their best features, work with different angles, and capture that natural energy just elevates a photo completely. 📸

I’ve been incredibly busy with shoots lately, and while I absolutely love collaborating, this will always remain a passion project and a hobby for me. Doing this as a job would just change the vibe. Most of the time, I prefer to shoot alone, though it’s always great having my wife tag along to assist when she can. Throwing myself into group settings has always been tough because my anxiety and crowds aren't exactly a great mix, but sessions like this remind me why it’s worth it. I feel like I’m slowly pushing past those anxious barriers and opening up to the idea of more group collaborations in the future. 🌿🤍

Welcome back to the basement studio for part two! 📸 As promised, we’re switching up the editing styles and dropping a full carousel of looks from this incredible session.

Before we get into the shots, I have to give a massive shoutout to robie c. breland. Robie is hands down one of the best photographers in Manitoba—it's honestly not even close when you look at the rest. Her shoots are truly amazing, and seeing her phenomenal work with is what sparked this whole collaboration. ✨

Maddy is such an amazing young person. She’s an honours student who is absolutely going to change the world. This generation gets a lot of grief, but I firmly believe they are going to produce some truly remarkable people. They are the ones who are going to change this world and maybe finally remove the toxicity that's currently out there. 🌍

They are incredibly accepting, loving, and above all, empathetic. People often use empathy and sympathy in the wrong context. To be empathetic means you are deeply caring and you will actually give of yourself to help others. Sympathy is not the same—it just means you feel for them, but you won't actually do anything about it. ❤️‍🩹 Maddy’s generation operates on that real, action-driven empathy.

A huge thank you to both of them! 🙌 I honestly can't wait to shoot with Maddy again in the future. Working with an amazing young person like her isn't just about getting great shots; it’s going to help me reach my own photography goals and push me to become a better, all-around photographer. It might even turn me into a coach or a teacher along the way. 📸✨

stopped by the basement studio! 📸 She’s relatively new to photo shoots, but after seeing the phenomenal work she did with robie c. breland, I knew we'd capture some magic. Maddy is an absolute natural in front of the camera. We shot for over 3 hours and walked away with 8,000+ photos! 🤯

Maddy honestly looks like an actual model—she seriously belongs on the cover of Vogue or any top fashion magazine. 🌟 Beyond the lens, Maddy is just an amazing young person. She's an honours student who is absolutely going to change the world, just give her time. 🌎

This is just a preview of the shoot, a singular edited shot. To get this overhead setup, I was standing above on a stepladder, trying my hardest to keep my balance and not fall! 🪜 I brought the file into Lightroom to give it this classic, retro photo style. 🎞️

I have more than enough photos for a full carousel post coming later this week, but for now, what does everyone think of this first look? Let me know below! 👇
