My best friend passed away recently. From a photography standpoint Dennis is the one who introduced me to cameras and photography way back in 1974 - high school.
After going through high school, college and then moving 2,000 miles away to Calgary together and photographing Banff and Lake Louise, it was time for us to move on. Me marrying my girl and Dennis taking a work exchange position in Ottawa. Within a year he decided to move back to his home island, Mauritius (in the Indian Ocean) working for his Uncles business.
Along the way he got back into scuba diving and of course with his camera. Dennis won awards for his underwater photography with his images seen in magazines, on tourist souvenir products as well as large prints to display in homes.
Photographing all types of sea life including whales, sharks, eels, stingrays and everything else that moves in the sea.
Though we did not physically see each other for over 40+ years, we kept in daily contact through texts and emails.
His absence leaves a big hole for his wife and 3 kids as well as family, friends and his diving community in Mauritius.
Looks like it time for me to move again.
