right so I think my body definitely adjusted to island weather a little too well

was really hoping to come home and be able to do some snowshoeing or snowboarding but here I am hibernating instead

been thinkin' a lot about how as a society we're so good at making 'things' better

so much so that it sometimes feels like we forget we're supposed to make ourselves + each other better too

you know - the same way you'd fix anything else. crack it open, let the parts spill out, and put your love and patience and care into piecing it back together

so here's a friendly reminder to spend your time pouring your love into people and not into things - not just at the holidays but always

maybe if we did more of that we simply wouldn't need so much stuff

the sun came out to play in victoria today so I went to the beach and watched the sun set and it brought me back to this day in tofino

always dreaming of warmer days, running barefoot through the water with the sand between my toes

physical touch is my love language and I love guiding couples along their session by using lots of movement, interaction + touch

it's so interesting to me to watch how each couple uniquely expresses themselves in a physical way

hello and welcome to the wild wild west !!

this was hands down the windiest but funnest micro wedding I've captured - and I'm so lucky to call these two friends ♥️

K+J had a small elopement in the spring and wanted to have a smaller celebration later on

in august they had their closest family + friends join them for a symbolic ceremony tucked away in alberta's rocky mountains

it was a super beautiful day filled with the best people and I'm just so happy for all of your adventures together - and grateful to get to be along for the ride xx

I've been reminded lately of just how lucky I am when it comes to the people + support systems I have in my life.

and so today I wanted to highlight the importance of our friends and I thought what better way to do that than show off one of the best wedding parties I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

I can 1000% say C+D's dream day on the sunshine coast was perfect simply because of who they chose to have around them.

this exceptionally rad group of humans were calm, cool, collected + honestly just grateful to be together. everyone had their back + best interests at heart. they all showed up for their friends and the only expectation was to have a good time.

and they freakin' did.

so for those of you planning your dream day and wondering who you should ask to stand by your side; my best suggestion isn't to focus on the practical (like how many people you want in your party) but instead, how you want to feel.

who makes you calm? who brings peace? who can get s**t done? who has your back? who is going to make sure you have the best day? who is the best DJ for while you're getting ready? who is going to hype you TF up?

in my opinion, your wedding party is your chosen family. so don't choose who you think you have to choose.

it's your day, so I say pick the people who make you feel the most at home when you're around them.

it doesn't matter if it's one person, or twenty. it's your day. you do you, boo.

also I hecked up and didn't share the reel to my feed so I'm just going to do this again because these two deserve allllllll the hype

this was such a fun set we created with the intention of a perfect winter date in mind and I am pretty sure we nailed it ... cozy lil bed set up next to the fire with all the snacks, sweets, hot chocolate + cuddles you could ever want or need!!

what day is it? oh right, thursday! a wonderful notion, considering that thursday's are my second favourite day of the week... and monday's are my favourite! today is a great day.

wow, you should simply ask everyone on IG what their favourite day of the week is... easy

no, but wait, people need context and substance. maybe you should go into this long bramble about how your friend did a random boring fact poll and now you want to do a random boring fact poll because it was lighthearted and fun

yes, your secondary love of thursdays will be your boring fact

no, wait, wait, if monday's are your favourite day people are going to be like wtf you're crazy lady

maybe you should also tell them you love the dentist. that'll really get the people going

then you're like no f**k just go back to the beginning it's easier

I just don't think there's a feeling better than going to the beach, kicking off your shoes, running wild through the sand and the waves

and the feeling of the wind in your hair + the mist on your skin

and how sometimes the water is so cold it makes you gasp but also fills you with so much life

I love how the ocean makes you feel so at peace and yet it's rarely ever calm - it's just the most beautiful thing

and I think it's so wonderful to share that feeling and these places with the people you love

and sometimes a photographer (me, hi)

so let's go to the beach together sometimeeeee, k?
