5 personal philosophies that shape my business...
I’ve noticed the values I carry at home show up at KW Headshots, too!
1. Be present.
The people I’m with and the moment I’m in are my priority. The phone goes on silent and gets set aside. All we’re guaranteed is this very moment so let’s make the most of it!
2. Be intentional.
Whether it’s with my time, energy, or communication, I believe intentionality makes everything better.
3. Quality over quantity.
Personal: When visiting Italy this summer, we chose to see fewer things but really soak those things in and leave space for unexpected delights!
Work: As photographers, we could technically shoot all kinds of things like weddings, newborns, and families. Many photographers do! At KW Headshots, we’ve chosen to do one thing and we do it very well.
4. Assume the best of people
I always like to give others the benefit of the doubt. There’s usually more to the story than what I can see, and choosing curiosity over assumptions makes for better relationships at home and in the studio.
5. Celebrate the milestones.
Personal: We celebrated 10 years of marriage last month at one of our favourite restaurants and treated ourselves to one of Benoit’s top recommended wines…by the bottle! My husband and I love a great wine-pairing, but we aren’t huge drinkers, so a glass each is plenty. We saved the bottle as a keepsake of our anniversary (it’s now the perfect vase for a long-stemmed rose).
Work: You’d better believe there are big plans brewing for my 20th year in business next year!
I’m no longer in Venice, but I’m going to bring that same sense of presence to my evening as we head out for tacos with relatives tonight!
Of the five above, which do you most relate to??
