Hi, I’m Julie! If you’ve been here for a while, you may have noticed that I’ve been quieter than I used to be!

The last few years held grief, loss, burnout and a whole lot of life behind the scenes.

I never stopped loving this work, but I did lose some of the part of me that loved sharing it.

Lately, something has shifted🤍

I’m proud of what I’m creating. I laugh more on wedding days! And I see tiny moments again.

I’m excited to show you the people, the process and the person behind the camera.

Almost 16 years in, and I think I’m entering one of my favourite creative seasons yet. Thanks for being here along the journey!🖤

Okay guys, I asked you approximately a MILLION questions about wedding photography a couple of weeks ago, and you absolutely delivered. 😂🤍

I spent so much time reading through your answers about what matters most when choosing a photographer, what makes the investment feel worthwhile, and what you actually want from the experience.

And I listened!!

I’ve been making some changes behind the scenes at JD Photography, and this is the one I’m most excited to share:

Engagement sessions are now included in EVERY wedding collection!!

I genuinely LOVE getting to spend time with my couples before the wedding day. We can go for a walk, take some beautiful photos, get past that first “what do we do with our hands?” moment, and just get to know each other without a wedding day timeline to think about.

Then, when I show up with my camera on your wedding day, we’re not strangers. You already know what it feels like to be in front of my camera, and I already know a little more about the two of you and how you interact together.

And that makes SUCH a difference.

I’ve also refreshed my wedding experience guide, made my collections and pricing easier to explore, and simplified the inquiry process.

Because after 15 years of photographing weddings, I still care so much about making this experience better and better for the people who trust me with their memories.

Beautiful photographs. An even better experience. That’s always the goal. 🤍

And that’s only one of the gorgeous Stella Co venue options in St Jacobs! 🤍

This wedding’s at Elle by Stella (almost exactly this time of year) and it just never gets old! These venues look incredible in every season.

It’s such a beautiful space, right in St. Jacobs, and every wedding I’ve photographed here has felt completely different depending on the couple and the people they’ve brought with them.

I’m really excited to be a preferred photographer with Stella Co. and would love to be back for even more weddings in 2027🤎🤎

Cocktail hour at Langdon Hall Hotel & Spa - but make it the main event. ✨

Alison and Brent wanted to experience their entire cocktail hour alongside their guests, so they did something I had never photographed before: they held their toasts right on Langdon Hall’s gorgeous garden terrace and had toasts during cocktail hour! Picture informal speeches, while gathered by the gardens, live band for the in-between moments, lawn games happening. It was so beautiful!

The speeches felt relaxed and intimate, the vibes were high, and Alison and Brent got to be fully present for the party they had so thoughtfully created.

A beautiful reminder that your wedding timeline can be designed around what you actually want to experience - not simply what has always been done. 🤍

From the beginning, A+B were really clear about what they wanted their wedding to feel like: relaxed, fun and focused on actually spending time with their people.⁠

When we talked about photography, I really felt like they didn’t want the day to be about the photos, rather ⁠I’d capture all the beautiful moments already happening! ⁠
⁠
⁠Of course, we made time for the beautiful portraits (swipe to see). But they also got to enjoy cocktail hour, listen to the toasts, laugh with their guests and actually be part of the wedding they’d planned.⁠

While they did that, I paid attention to everything happening around them; that just married moment + feeling (slide 6), family reactions (slide 8) + a moment with the flower girls (slide 1)✨⁠

Hey, I’m Julie! + there are quite a few new faces around here barely, so it felt like a good time to properly introduce myself🫶🏻

I’m a wedding photographer based in Kitchener-Waterloo, photographing weddings across Cambridge, Guelph, Elora, Hamilton, Toronto + throughout Southern Ontario.

And while I obviously really love beautiful photographs, what I care most about is everything happening inside them.

I photograph weddings with a documentary approach. Lots of observing, a little gentle direction when needed, and plenty of space to just experience your wedding day!

A few things about me outside of weddings: I am a big baker, I love days spent with my girls, I’ll always choose a great coffee shop, I love my family and friends, and I genuinely still feel so lucky that my work days get to be the biggest day@of someone else’s life🥹

Some wedding venues are just truly magical ✨🕊️ and The Stella Collective has created a couple of my absolute favourites in the region.

I’ve photographed at all their wedding locations, and these guys are just SO good at what they do. 🤍

The team is incredible, the spaces photograph beautifully, Gilt Catering Co. food is genuinely unmatched, and the whole atmosphere just makes for such a good wedding day.

And yes, obviously the venues themselves are stunning. The gardens, the river, the architecture, that evening lightttt 🥹 There’s so much variety without ever having to leave the property.

But I think what I love most is how easy the day gets to feel.

You’re not spending a huge chunk of your wedding driving between locations or disappearing for hours to take photos. You actually get to be there. Cocktail hour, conversations with your people, everyone gathered around the tables, all the little unexpected moments happening in between.

And selfishly, those are my favourite parts to photograph. 🤍

So for 2027, I’m intentionally saving a little space in my calendar for 5 Elle by Stella weddings + 5 Wren House weddings.
