I normally photograph families in the late afternoon/early evening but this weekend I mixed this up a bit and heading out in the early morning.And it was BEAUTIFUL!

It’s been a while since I’ve been behind the camera and last week I was able to join friends to capture a maternity session. I felt like I was back in my element and wondered why I haven’t picked up my camera for a few months.

Maybe it was for the fear of not being good enough, feeling like I didn’t have enough time to do this or not being sure of who to take photos of. But meeting up with friends made me realize to stop making excuses and to start doing what I love doing again.

So, who wants to head out one evening with me, to enjoy the spring evening with your love and get some photos taken?

Happy mid-week!

Today we've been busy decorating our not one, but two Christmas trees. The kids insisted on getting a small tree for their playroom and we agreed to it. I have very fond memories of getting a Christmas tree for my bedroom that I shared with my older sister. So now as a mother, I am keeping the tradition going, and I am sure it's one that will last for years to come.

Happy December 1st! Wow, I can't believe that we are already at this time of year again. This past year has gone so fast and has been a whirlwind for our family. I feel like I was JUST getting ready for Christmas last year and putting together our Advent activity calendar and in a blink, we are doing it all again.

This year has come with many adventures and opportunities that I feel so grateful for. From being able to work from home, a new job opportunity for my husband, a big move to BC, our son starting school, and I being able to stay at home with our young daughter, all the while continuing to practice by creative side of photography.

I am so thankful for them all and I can't wait to see what the last month of this year brings!

I always get nervous on my drive to a photo session with new or returning clients. It's just what happens and I am not sure why. Maybe because I am nervously excited about meeting someone new, nervous because I am hoping that they will like their photos, or maybe cause I sometimes have some self doubt in my abilities. But as soon as I meet the client, it all seems to vanish as we have fun and interact in the session.

Today was no exception and in fact, I left the session feeling at peace and a calming presence over me. It is very hard to describe but it was as if these two genuine, beautiful soles blessed me in many ways. I was so honored to meet them, and to bask in the sunlight that they showered over me. Jaime Marie Benson you are a gem!
