“When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I’d like to know them.” — Annie Leibovitz.

With every client I work with, I change a little. Often strangers, I quickly learn about who they are and why they want to have their photos taken. Sometimes life long relationships are formed, sometimes I see them once a year, and other times we’ve simply spent an hour sharing space and creating art.

I often think about the walls my art is on, the excitement and surprise of a partner when they receive gifted images. How emotional it must be to look back years down the road and remember who you were at that stage of your life, and how you felt. We live our lives with emotion, soaking in every little thing that makes us feel something. That is our fuel. That is what truly makes us human. This is a kind reminder to do things that make you happy, try new things, go on adventures, surprise people you love. You might even end up surprising yourself along the way.
