Evelyn Glenda Butler
May 18, 1949 – April 26, 2026
I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Evy Butler.
Evy was an integral part of my photography career. I first met her in 1992, and in 1995 she called and asked me to become a regular contributor to Boulevard Magazine, the publication she owned and shaped with such energy, style, and vision.
That opportunity changed the course of my professional life. Working with Evy and Boulevard helped establish my career as a photographer in Victoria, and I continued to work with her for 21 years, until she sold the magazine.
Evy had an extraordinary presence. She was smart, funny, direct, creative, opinionated in the best possible way, and deeply connected to the people and culture of this city. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together, recognize talent, and create opportunities for others.
I will always be grateful for the trust she placed in me, the doors she opened, and the many years of work, laughter, and shared history.
Victoria has lost a true original. Evy will be deeply missed and very fondly remembered.
