Creating a video for Mother’s Day taught me that honouring this day is so much deeper than I once realized.
Motherhood isn’t just one story; it’s a beautiful, complex tapestry. There are so many different types of moms, and just as many different emotions surrounding this day. In the past, I’ve made videos that only captured the simple, sunny moments of happy moms and happy kids. Those were beautiful, but they were also a learning curve for me. They taught me to look closer.
This year, I wanted to create something that holds space for everyone. Because underneath all the different paths and feelings, there is one universal truth that connects us all: everyone has a mom.
While the video doesn’t say it out loud, you’ll see it woven through pictures of our church staff as babies, and their mothers who loved them into the world.
It’s a quiet, delicate reminder, but one I think our hearts really need right now.
