I don’t know about you, but I can feel summer sliding away. Some of the trees here on San Juan Island are already starting to turn shades of red and yellow. My clock tells me autumn is around the bend, too, because I can go out nightlighting at a decent hour!

This week, no sign of the giant nereid worms at all, but still lots of tiny polychaete worms spawning at the surface. Loads of gregarious jellies and the occasional cross hydromedusa, plenty of Canadian comb jellies, a sprinkle of sea gooseberries, and a decent showing of small Muggiaea siphonophores.

I loved seeing this tiny snail swimming along—still not sure who they are. Maybe JA Fields | Salish Sea Art & Sci Comm knows?
