Finally making my way through the mountain of shoots I’ve been sitting on all summer 😅

This was from one of our Haus of Owl photography meetups and my first time working with Mylar film. I’ve been wanting to experiment with reflective materials and distortion for a while, and this was the perfect opportunity to bring the idea to life.

I wanted the Mylar to almost become part of the set — using the reflections and distortion to create this warped, liquid-like world around Tia, while keeping her as the focal point and the portrait itself clean and intentional.

I had a pretty specific vision going into this one, but there’s always something so fun about seeing how an idea translates once you’re actually behind the camera. I’m really happy with how this series came together and definitely want to keep exploring what I can do with Mylar.

My work is usually full of bold colours & big concepts, but every once in a while I find myself craving simplicity.
and I think this series is proof that sometimes less really is more. 🤍
Stripping everything back reminds me that great images don’t need much— just intentional lighting, movement, and a subject willing to create with you.

This monochrome set with Tara Greco | Actress | Model felt like exactly that.

Captured during one of the bi weekly photography nights I host at Haus of Owl: Creation Lab where we get to experiment, collaborate, and create alongside other local photographers and creatives.

Form & Flow ✨

One of my favourite things to watch during a shoot is when everything shifts from “posing” to play.

When the subject shifts from focusing on what they’re “supposed” to do & starts experimenting instead—small shifts, bigger gestures, & undeniable confidence.

Jessica Young spent the evening as the posing coach at our Model Experience event in May, helping everyone feel more confident in front of the camera & encouraging that sense of exploration rather than perfection.

At the very end of the night, just as we were about to tear down the set, we realized we had five minutes left - so of course we played a little!

No overthinking. No shot list. Just play & trusting the process of our creative energy working together & those few minutes ended up producing some of my new favourite images.

A little reminder for anyone stepping in front of a camera: there’s no single “right” way to do it. The best images usually come from staying present, trying things, & letting it unfold naturally. 🤍

A little glimpse into the very first Model Experience ✨

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who shared, commented, tagged friends, inquired, participated, and supported this event. Seeing an idea come to life and watching these women step in front of the camera with confidence was incredibly rewarding 🤍

A special thank you as well to for her incredible pose coaching, for makeup touch-ups and lashes, and for providing such a beautiful creative space.

I’ve already had a number of people asking if there will be another one… 👀

Nothing is official yet, but if there’s enough interest, I may just have to make The Model Experience a recurring event with new concepts, themes, and creative opportunities to come.
