Cowichan Bay

On my evening walks through the Cowichan Estuary, I noticed a bold little chickadee keeping pace with me, flitting branch to branch along the d**e trail. After a few days of it following my stride, I stopped and held out an empty hand. Without hesitation, it swooped down and landed right on my palm, a brief, incredible moment of trust in the quiet salt marsh.

Beacon Hill Park, Victoria BC

While I was taking photos of an osprey fighting off an eagle, a little girl from the petting zoo ran up to me and said, "You might want to see this? There's an owl in the tree eating a rat!"
I tried to frame the shot to leave out the rat, as I really wanted the focus to be on the beauty of the owl contrasted against the tree. I'm very happy with how this photo of this beautiful young owl turned out!

Dallas Breakwater

This shot was taken in 2024. I wasn't there to specifically take a shot of the cruise ship, but the lighting was starting to change, and I felt like I only had one chance at getting the shot, and that's what I happened to get.
