The summer version of me: Spending half the time juggling afternoons by the river, keeping up with my boys at the park, tidying up messes, oh and answering emails and editing in between, and the other half figuring out what to feed my kids next.

September Me: In studio, in my element, camera charged, fire tunes playing in the background and ready to GO.

I love summer and I’m sad to see the season change but wrangling two young boys for 2 months was a doozy 🤪.

Despite my best efforts, I have failed again.

I failed to balance the summer break with my family vs remembering to share content here. But I’m alive 🙋🏻‍♀️.

Almost all of clients, before they step in front of my lens, “warn me” about how awkward they are in front of the camera… Then proceed to show me all the different and fabulous sides of who they are as a person, and how the show up in their business. In that aspect, Shannon was no different.

Shannon created Pearson & Co. — she goes into construction and manufacturing companies, then helps them work through the tension nobody wants to name. She’s a conflict expert, TEDx speaker, very good at telling people the truth without making them feel small. She’s all that, but she also happens to be funny, warm, and knows a thing or two about wh***ey.

All of that personality showed up to her branding session (No, there was NO WH***EY in that coffee mug). Because people hire the whole person, not the job title — and a batch of images where you’re stiff, serious and professional could just be you leaving money on the table.

That’s what the direction I provide is for. I handle the light, the angle, where your hands go. I just ask that you show up as yourself.

…and truly, nobody’s actually awkward on camera — they’re just usually left guessing.
