“Medium format cameras come in a wide variety of shapes and styles, creating different methods to pull focus.

Twin Lens Reflex cameras (TLRs) most often have a wasit-level viewfinder, allowing you to hold the camera lower and look down to compose your image. The twin lenses allow for a mechanically simplified method of splitting light to the mirror as well as the film. Here we see two ways this can look in both a simple, less descriptive way, and a much clearer, more expensive fashion.

Other, more complex studio cameras, like this Mamiya RB67, are Single Lens Relex cameras (SLRs) and require the movement of an internal mirror to direct light between the viewfinder and the film. This Mamiya focuses by adjusting a the lens forward and back with a bellows system.” - Carlo

SATURDAY EXPOSURES - HARMAN SWITCH AZURE

HARMAN SWITCH films invite you to flip the familiar on its head and turn the everyday into something strange special. As the colours switch, ordinary scenes become unexpectedly extraordinary.

Iconic red London buses? - Now they’re blue.
Yellow New York cabs? - Not anymore!
Your friends? - Think Smurfs… or maybe Avatar.
Sunsets? - Reimagined in cool blues and dreamy purples.

From the everyday to the extraordinary, it’s time to switch the world around you.

The type of scanner used with Azure negatives can significantly alter how the digitized image will look.

“There’s a couple different ways to set your focus in a Rangefinder camera. In higher end, or larger, cameras of this style, you might find a “double image” within the viewfinder. When the smaller secondary image lines up with what you’re seeing, the lens has come to focus with your subject.

In smaller cameras without the required beam splitter or other system to provide a double image, you’ll have to focus by setting the estimated distance between the camera and the subject. This method can lead to a few blurry shots if you’ve made a bad guess.” - Carlo
