Shot this series for —bright sun, good people, and a brand that’s been part of my story since back when they were just getting started, and it’s been rad to watch the vision grow: lighter footprints, sustainable design, and a whole lot of fun along the way.

Always a blast shooting with them. This one was all California dreamin’.

Faces tell stories. Light shapes them. A good portrait isn’t just about looking—it’s about seeing. Seeing the raw, the real, the in-between moments where personality cracks through the frame. No pretense. No masks. Just people, as they are.More than a photograph, a portrait is a collaboration—between subject and lens, light and shadow, expression and silence. Here’s to the art of seeing people as they truly are.-André Paul Pinces is an award-winning commercial photographer and director specializing in advertising, lifestyle, fashion, and editorial photography. Norse Projects | Vancouver Harbor – Workwear in Its True Element
In an era where "workwear" is often reduced to an aesthetic, this project brought it back to its origins—utility, endurance, and purpose. We shot this editorial aboard a working tugboat in Vancouver Harbor, where function is everything, and gear earns its place through wear, weather, and movement.
Photographing in environments like this requires more than just an eye for composition—it’s about capturing the unspoken narratives embedded in the textures of fabric, the interplay of light and steel, and the quiet resilience of those who live in these spaces.
I shot this on my Contax G2 Black on Kodak Portra NC 160, which rendered every shade of that February sky—overcast, cinematic, perfectly diffused. These are raw scans of the negatives, untouched, unfiltered.
Commercial work is more than creating visuals; it’s about storytelling. Whether it’s fashion, editorial, or brand-driven imagery, my focus remains the same—distilling authenticity into every frame.
Plus what a fun day ripping around! Have you ever checked out the old McDonald's barge?

REIGNING CHAMP \ Retail Window Display & In-Store Visuals HOLIDAY 2024

Last-minute projects often bring out the best in creative problem-solving.
I had the opportunity to produce a holiday retail display campaign for Reigning Champ, delivering window displays and in-store visuals across all their boutiques—executed on a tight timeline to meet the seasonal rush.
From concept to installation, the goal was to create a bold, refined aesthetic that aligned with the brand’s identity while elevating the holiday shopping experience.

HELLO KAZAKHSTAN!
A week of luxury, culture, and creativity. Working with the amazing team at McCann Kazakhstan on the launch of Esentai Tower & Mall was an unforgettable experience. The team were the most incredible hosts, introducing me to the rich history and vibrant culture of Almaty, a city where tradition meets modernity in the most historical way.

Designed by the legendary Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM)—the architects behind the Burj Khalifa and One World Trade Center—Esentai Tower stands 168m tall, a masterpiece of modernist elegance and structural innovation. Inside, it’s nothing short of luxury: a JW Marriott hotel, high-end residences, Michelin-star dining, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and the Esentai Mall, home to Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dior, and more.

And the final touch? A football-field-sized image towering over the city, marking the moment in grand style. Huge thanks to the McCann team for making me feel like a VIP every step of the way.

Blurgeois Dispatch is a newsletter about photography, visual culture—a space for deep dives, breakdowns, and the occasional sharp-tongued critique.

My work is about intent, style, and substance, and The Blurgeois Dispatch is an extension of that vision.

This isn’t a place for content churn. It’s for those who still care about photography as an art form, cinema as storytelling, and culture as something deeper than trends.

Here, I might dig into:
📸 Photography in the Algorithmic Age – Why art is being flattened and how real photographers push back.
🎬 Cinema Beyond the Franchise Machine – The last great filmmakers and the fight for real storytelling.
🎵 Music as Rebellion – When soundtracks defined culture, not just filled scenes.
🔍 The Death of Subculture – Why everything looks the same and how we break the loop.
📖 The Return to Long-Form Thought – Slowing down, digging deeper, thinking beyond the scroll.

If you value craft over content, aesthetics over engagement, and depth over distraction, you’re in the right place.

A couple of weeks ago, I shared part of this series and was incredibly grateful for the positive response. Now, to mark International Women’s Day, March 8, I’m honored to continue celebrating the dedicated, compassionate, and immensely talented staff and their patients at British Columbia Women’s Hospital.

This portrait series captures the strength, resilience, and humanity of those who make BCWH a place of healing and hope. I’m deeply thankful for the opportunity to tell their stories through my lens.
