The British Columbia government is bringing an end to the hunting of grizzly bears throughout the province, Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, and George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, announced today.

Today the Auditor General of BC published her INDEPENDENT report into Grizzly Bear Management in BC.

Highlights:
- degraded habitat a major risk to grizzlies
- Ministries haven't fulfilled long-standing commitments for managing grizzly bears
- Ministry management of bears did NOT MEET OUR EXPECTATIONS
- ministries IMPROVED hunting procedures
