You probably have to have been working in photography long before 2001 to know what this is. It's a polaroid taken on a Hasselblad 500cm. Probably the most beautiful camera ever made. If you wanted to test the lighting, this was the only way to get a preview before you use film. The danger was if you got a fantastic shot on polaroid would you be able to do it again on film. Below is Eveyn Hart who won the gold medal in Varna and became a principal ballerina at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
At one of my workshops I was surprised to see a participant using film. It was very unique since I stopped using film 20 years ago. He also was freelensing with a digital camera to control unique depth of field. It shows you there are so many approaches to shooting dance that will be unique and to never stop experimenting.

Here is most of a "Zoom" lecture about the farm shoot in Winnipeg with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. This was live to other dance photographers from around the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UgeUk0Kf4Y&feature=youtu.be
It was hosted by Pas De Deux who runs a yearly photo conference about dance photography. Sorry about the crashes that I ran into using Bridge and ZOOM.

Once in awhile you shoot a show that helps point you towards new ways to light. This piece called Bygones by Out Innerspace certainly did. Think of it as architecture with light. https://www.outinnerspace.ca/about/company/
