For years, the creative process ended when the photos were edited.

What’s really interesting about the latest gallery design tools in Pic-Time is that they allow the atmosphere, the feeling and the vibe of the event to carry through to the delivery experience itself.

A seemingly small change on the surface, but potentially a much bigger shift in how we think about presenting our work digitally.

A very well deserved thank you to the team that put together the event in the reel:

What would you do??

A photographer recently brought up this question: “a couple booked me a year ago, but now they want to add two more hours of coverage. My pricing has gone up since then. Should I charge my current rate or the rate they originally booked at?”

Personally, I think you should honour the original pricing. From a principal perspective, while it’s understandable that prices have increased over a long period of time, your clients aren’t buying a collection of separate transactions, they’re buying one singular experience. Or at least one singular experience from their perspective.

From the moment they inquire until the day their gallery is delivered, every touch point and interaction contributes to how it feels to work with you. And when I have to make decisions like this, I always just ask myself, “if I were the client, what would I hope happens?”

The answer usually lives with the answer, whether we want to acknowledge it or not. I’m curious where you would land on this one? Would you honour the original pricing or charge your current rates? Let me know in the comments.

A little portrait posing, composition and framing inspiration for you today. Sometimes you’re given an urban commercial space that from a zoomed out look isn’t so pretty or interesting. But when you zoom in, and look for slivers of light, interesting textures and dark backgrounds, suddenly a small world of opportunities arise.

Zoom in. Look for those nuggets. Place your coupe or subject there. Away you go!

Comment “AMAZING” to get your first month of limitless for $10. You could literally edit 10,000 images for $10 if you wanted, it’s kinda crazy.

Before the season really kicks off, I would recommend training a profile with your last 6-10 weddings. You would upload the Lightroom catalogues and select the folders with your edits. Imagen would then read the data and create a profile based on how you edited those weddings. Don’t worry about location, lighting, venues etc. it’s smart enough now to recognize the difference spaces and learn your preferences.

If you’ve recently changed your editing style or the preset you use. I would do the profile Lite option. You just upload your preset and answer a few preference questions and the profile is made automatically. Then, for the next few weddings, it’ll learn what changes you made and remember them for next time.

If you have any questions about Imagen, leave them in the comments and I’d be happy answer them.

Our bride this past weekend requested a photo she saw on our gram. We love the concept but wanted to up the ante a touch. So we used this staircase to create not just a horizontal affect but also a vertical one.

We were inspired by a scene from The Thomas Crown Affair. Where everyone was dressed the same and walking in different directions to avoid being caught!

Now that we’ve done this a few times, my main tip, which we didn’t do here was to get everyone in the position of the final shot. Then ask everyone to take one step backwards. On the count of 3 when everyone walks forward, boom, you’ve got your image. Less hoping it’ll all line up :)

Comment “spider” for all the details and links

I had the opportunity to use the Spider Holster at our most recent wedding and overall, it was really comfortable and it was so nice not having anything on my shoulders. That being said, I have comments ;)

Once the belt is on, it’s hard to re-adjust your outfit, I found my shirt would slowly rise up from all the little movements, and it was really hard to tuck my shirt back in while wearing the belt, so I had to remove it a few times throughout the day to fix my shirt.

When moving through tight spaces it was a little annoying to either pull out both cameras to hold near my chest, or having to side step through a narrow space. But again this was just a small inconvenience.

Finally, my last comment is weight. This will be different for everyone, but I’m a pretty small framed person. I can carry a lot on my shoulders (not that I want to), but I can’t hold the same amount on my waist. With my cameras as is, it was totally fine, but I can feel that if I had large zoom lenses for example, that could be too much for me.

Wins: More clothing options. No rubbing of shirts or shoulders. No shoulder pain, or sore back. Very sleek and minimal. Lots of options for adding accessories, bags etc.

The battery holder my friend made, the phone holder and Spider are all linked when you comment “spider”. For the velcro, look for 1.5” on Amazon.

A few weeks ago we got the incredible opportunity to photograph the legends from Love is Blind UK Season 2, Meg and Kieran. They are widely considered to represent LIB’s most successful story of the experiment, having continued their relationship away from the public eye and just simply being the cutest couple ever.

We were so lucky to photograph their honeymoon in Los Angeles and are so excited to share these images with all of you today.

Comment “spider” for all the details

The two main things about the Spider Holster is, no more back and shoulder pain after a wedding day, AND! I can wear just about anything now, including dresses.

I still love my harness but there are certain things that just make sense when wearing a belt instead. I used to be worried about pilling, pulling and rubbing, so I couldn’t wear nice sweaters, shirts or blouses. Because the weight was on my shoulders, I didn’t like wearing dresses because the straps would dig into my skin and while it was fairly comfortable, after a whole day of shooting, it became less so.

One thing to keep in mind, it’s not as fast as a harness when switching. For example, when anticipating the first kiss, while wearing a harness, I would quickly drop my 50mm and pick up my 135mm without even taking my eyes off the couple, but with the belt, it does take some time getting used to and learning to clip one camera in before grabbing the other.

All in all, I’m really excited to shoot this whole season with the belt system.

Netflix’s Love Is Blind UK power couple, and on their honeymoon in downtown LA.

There’s something about photographing a couple after the wedding day. No timelines or expectations, just two people who have already chosen each other and are settling into what that feels like.

On the day there was a vibe, an energy, a relational confidence that I feel only comes after the wedding. For us, creatively it meant a type of freedom we don’t typically experience but was such a joy to play with.

We feel so grateful to be trusted by Meg and Kieran.
