Dungeness or Red Rock Crab? Discover the Difference in Every Bite 🇨🇦
One of the best seafood experiences I had in Canada was tasting freshly caught Dungeness crab and Red Rock crab straight from the cold coastal waters of British Columbia. There’s something special about eating seafood that was freshly harvested just hours before — simple, natural, and incredibly fresh.
The Dungeness crab was sweet, tender, and packed with rich flavor. Its soft texture and juicy meat made every bite satisfying, especially when dipped in melted butter or enjoyed on its own. It’s easy to understand why it’s considered one of the most loved crabs on the West Coast of Canada.
The Red Rock crab, on the other hand, had a firmer texture and a stronger seafood flavor. Though smaller, it still offered a delicious taste of the ocean and made the whole crabbing experience even more exciting. Catching both types of crab during family bonding moments by the water made the meal feel even more rewarding.
