Dungeness or Red Rock Crab? Discover the Difference in Every Bite 🇨🇦

One of the best seafood experiences I had in Canada was tasting freshly caught Dungeness crab and Red Rock crab straight from the cold coastal waters of British Columbia. There’s something special about eating seafood that was freshly harvested just hours before — simple, natural, and incredibly fresh.

The Dungeness crab was sweet, tender, and packed with rich flavor. Its soft texture and juicy meat made every bite satisfying, especially when dipped in melted butter or enjoyed on its own. It’s easy to understand why it’s considered one of the most loved crabs on the West Coast of Canada.

The Red Rock crab, on the other hand, had a firmer texture and a stronger seafood flavor. Though smaller, it still offered a delicious taste of the ocean and made the whole crabbing experience even more exciting. Catching both types of crab during family bonding moments by the water made the meal feel even more rewarding.

Must-Visit in BC, Canada: The Abbotsford Tulip Festival 🌷🇨🇦

Spring in British Columbia becomes even more magical when the tulips bloom in Abbotsford. The famous Lakeland Flowers transforms into a colorful paradise filled with millions of tulips stretching across the Fraser Valley. Known as the Abbotsford Tulip Festival, this breathtaking attraction has become one of the must-visit spring destinations in BC.

Walking through the endless rows of vibrant tulips feels like stepping into a painting. From classic red and yellow blooms to rare fringed and parrot tulips, every corner is picture-perfect. The festival features scenic pathways, giant Dutch-inspired displays, swings, vintage bicycles, canoes, and viewing platforms that make the experience unforgettable for families, couples, and photographers alike.

What makes the festival even more special is its stunning location. Surrounded by mountain views and fresh countryside air, the tulip fields showcase the natural beauty that British Columbia is known for. Visitors can also enjoy food trucks, live music, pianos placed in the fields, and local art displays while exploring the farm.

The festival is hosted by the Warmerdam family, whose Dutch flower-farming roots helped shape this colorful tradition in Abbotsford. Today, Lakeland Flowers continues to share that legacy with visitors from all over Canada and beyond.

If you ever visit British Columbia during spring, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival deserves a spot on your travel list. It’s more than just a flower farm — it’s a vibrant celebration of color, nature, and unforgettable memories. 🌷✨

The Enchanting Silent Beauty of the Nanaimo River
Tourism Nanaimo Tourism Vancouver Island
There is something magical about standing beside the Nanaimo River — where the sound of rushing water replaces the noise of everyday life. Surrounded by towering trees, crystal-clear waters, and the calm embrace of nature, the river offers a peaceful escape that feels almost unreal. Every step along its banks brings a sense of serenity, as if time slows down and allows you to simply breathe and appreciate the beauty around you.

What makes the Nanaimo River truly enchanting is its silence. Not the empty kind of silence, but the comforting silence filled with birds singing, water flowing gently, and leaves dancing with the wind. Away from crowded streets and endless distractions, this place reminds us how healing nature can be. It is a quiet sanctuary where the mind relaxes and the heart feels lighter.

As a visitor in Canada, experiencing the Nanaimo River was unforgettable. Its clean waters and untouched beauty reflect how precious nature truly is. Moments like these make travel meaningful — not just seeing places, but feeling connected to them. Sometimes, the most beautiful destinations are not the loudest attractions, but the peaceful corners that allow us to reflect, recharge, and simply enjoy the silence.

Crabbing in Canada: A Coastal Adventure Worth Trying💯✅🇨🇦

One of the unique experiences of living in Canada is trying crabbing along the coast. For first-timers, it is more than just catching seafood — it is about enjoying nature, the cold ocean breeze, and the excitement of waiting for a crab trap to come up full. Along the shores of Nanaimo Island, crabbing has become a favorite outdoor activity for locals and tourists alike.

PS. If you want to go crabbing in BC, you generally need a valid B.C. Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence because crab harvesting is considered tidal (saltwater) recreational fishing.
