DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: after a month of real use
Overall I really like DJI OSMO as a brand, and the image quality is great. HOWEVER, for a 4th-gen camera, the UX doesn’t quite get there for me.
What upsets me:
1. D-Log2 works only at 1x zoom. Meh. You can’t even zoom in D-Log2 ☹️
2. 4K/240fps slow-mo is 1x only, and horizontal only. The 3x lens maxes out at 200fps. Kinda cool, but not versatile enough.
3. In portrait mode, the zoom and custom buttons disappear. They turn into on-screen buttons, and you have to choose whether the joystick controls the camera or the zoom. There’s no dedicated zoom-only control.
4. 3K max in portrait.
I mean… so many people shoot vertically. It’s a huge chunk of creators. I believe this should’ve been fixed a WHILE ago. Cuz what’s the point of investing in a cool camera when new iPhone Pros can do log AND 4K in portrait or landscape?
Of course, it’s all just my personal experience and opinion. Maybe I’m just spoiled by all the new tech on the market and expected a bit more from a camera I’ve dreamed about and finally got.
I really want DJI to do better.
