STYLING TIP FOR RED WINE 🍷 ✨

Photographing full-bodied red wines, such as merlot, can be surprisingly tricky. Dark liquids can look opaque and lifeless in camera and need a little help to get that beautiful glow. Try diluting some grape juice (or wine if you don’t mind wasting it) to make the liquid less saturated and more transparent. This is especially effective in a mulled wine situation so that we can see some of the orange slice detail even when it’s slightly submerged.

What do you think? Pretty convincing, right 🧐

I have yet to see one of my images on the cover of a magazine, so I created my own 😉

Working with overlays is an excellent exercise to get familiar with, especially in commercial photography, such as shooting an image for a product packaging label where the artwork is already designed.

This fun magazine cover layout was quickly created in Canva using one of their existing templates. Download as a PNG file, then bring it into Lightroom via View ➤ Loupe Overlay ➤ Choose Layout Image. When shooting tethered, you can see how each image will look related to the existing artwork and adjust accordingly until the client is happy.
