As I was leaving the wedding reception this past weekend a guest stopped me on my way out and said “Hey, just wanted to tell you that you are the most discreet wedding photographer I’ve ever seen!” I laughed and thanked him for saying that (because it’s a huge compliment to me), but it made me think that it’s probably not usually the case.
In my opinion a skilled photographer (or videographer) does their job well without drawing attention to themselves or ruining moments. Whether that means walking the long way around the back of the church instead of across the front during the vows, using a longer lens so they’re not so close, or setting the shutter to silent during the quiet ceremony - guests should be watching the couple and not the photographer. Do you agree?
