Candice Daum Photography's main goal is to capture the spirit of the animals we love, whether it be running at Mach speed to catch an airborne frisbee, bringing death to a new species of feather on a stick, or simply basking in the glorious warmth of a summer day. The photography experience should be just as much fun as receiving the final art piece and hanging it on your

wall. It is a big step to ask a photographer to come and capture life with your pet, but it is an investment you will never forget. Candid moments are my favourite as they produce the most genuine expressions. Just as a rope can not be pushed without getting bent out of shape, our fur babies are no different. We can always reschedule a shoot if need be. My promise to you is to never, ever, EVER push an animal to do something they don't want to do. Keeping it fun is my top priority. Photography is so much more than just a snapshot. It holds within it an experience, a time & place that has marked its existence in a special place in our hearts.

🐾 Working Certificate Test — field work in action 📸🐕

I’ll be photographing the CKC Working Certificate Tests hosted by the Golden Retriever Club of Manitoba at the Winnipeg Field Trial Club Grounds in Anola, MB on June 14th!

This will be my first time photographing this type of event, and I’m excited to capture the focus, partnership, and precision these dogs bring to their work.

With the Golden Retriever Club of Canada National Specialty coming to Manitoba this August, this event is a great opportunity for me to get familiar with the sport ahead of the major event, which I’m honoured to have been selected to photograph.

A few quick notes:

* 📸 Photo coverage is confirmed for June 14th
* 📸 Orders are welcome both before and after the event

All dogs entered will be photographed (unless requested otherwise).

How photo ordering works...

Approximately one week after the event, I’ll post a RAW Image Slideshow featuring all dogs photographed throughout the day.

These images are straight out of camera and are intended as a viewing and ordering tool only. They are not cropped, edited, or representative of the finished artwork you will receive.

Packages are available from single images all the way up to TOP DOG.

🐾 TOP DOG includes a dedicated slideshow featuring only your dog, making it easy to review every image captured without searching through the full event slideshow. Many clients also enjoy it as a keepsake that lets them relive the entire performance from start to finish.

For ordering, you can choose:

✔️ CUSTOM Selection — you choose your favourite images from the slideshow

✔️ CLASSIC Selection — I select the strongest images for you, creating a balanced collection that showcases your dog’s best moments

Each image in the slideshow includes a file number, making it easy to identify your selections.

I’ll be photographing the RCDD Cross Over Crown – UpDog Disc Trial at Bord-Aire Community Club in Winnipeg, MB.

I’ll be there capturing all the fast, funny, focused, and flying moments that make this sport so much fun to watch.

All dogs will be photographed, so even if you don't get your order in before the date, be sure to have a look at the slideshow to see what's been captured for you.

📸 Throwback Thursday time… and this one goes WAY back. 😳🐾

These images were taken June 14, 2019 — almost 7 years ago!

This was a backyard disc practice out at Jo-Anne Coulombe’s place, and also happened to be a very important test day for me. My trusty Canon 1DX DSLR was starting to give me issues, so this session became my “let’s see if this Sony thing is actually worth it” test run. 😅

At the time, switching systems felt HUGE. I had been shooting Canon since I was 16 years old. But Sony’s mirrorless technology was way ahead of the 'sport' game back then, and I needed a camera NOW… so I took the leap.

Well… here we are years later:
➡️ Sony A9 (first Sony body)
➡️ Sony A1 (second Sony camera, now my back-up)
➡️ now the A1ii (current camera)
…and many hundreds of thousands of dog photos later. 🐕📸

The funny part?
I realized I never actually published this group session gallery on my new website! 🤦‍♀️

So I’ve finally made it available — and there are 156 images total from this practice session!

💙 Wrapping up an amazing 2025 season 💙

As I wrap up another full season, I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who trusted me to capture it. From flying paws and blink-and-you-miss-it action to intense focus and teamwork — it’s been an honour.

My work is usually all about the dogs doing their thing, but every now and then a moment between a dog and their person stops me in my tracks. It’s not always about ribbons or wins — the real win is the time we get to spend with our dogs. The quiet encouragement, the shared pride, the joy in simply being there together. Those are the moments that melt my heart and feel just as worthy of preserving.

Cheers to everyone who supports professional photography, and to the furry athletes who show up simply to please, play, and have fun. All of the images shared here were captured throughout 2025 at various events — and I’m already looking forward to seeing what 2026 brings. 🐾

Wishing you and your dogs a season full of good runs, good company, and great memories, because these moments matter just as much as the action.
