🐋 Socorro 2028 – What Are You Most Excited To See?

With limited spots remaining on our Socorro 2028 expedition, I'm curious...

What marine animal are you most hoping to encounter?

✨ Giant Oceanic Manta Rays
🦈 Silky Sharks
🦈 Galapagos Sharks
🦈 Hammerheads
🐬 Bottlenose Dolphins
🐋 Humpback Whales
🐋 Whale Sharks

For me, it's hard to go past the giant manta rays. The interactions in Socorro are often nothing short of magical, with these intelligent animals frequently approaching divers and photographers for incredibly close encounters.

But then again, there's something pretty special about descending into the blue and seeing a school of hammerheads appear out of the distance!

I'd love to hear what species tops your wish list for this expedition.

Drop a comment below and let me know!

🌊 Two new expeditions just landed.

Socorro, Mexico - one of the most remote dive destinations on Earth. Giant mantas, dolphins, sharks, and almost no one else in the water. 🦈

Christmas Island - red crab migration, pristine reefs, dolphins. The kind of place most people don't even know exists. 🦀

Both trips are limited. Both are the real deal.

Still available:
🦈 Maldives · Sep 2026 · 3 spots left
🐧 Antarctica · Jan 2027 · 2 spots left
🐋 Tonga · Aug 2027

Raja Ampat, Lady Elliot, Sea of Cortez, Tonga 2026, Cenderawasih Bay and Lord Howe Island are already sold out - if that tells you anything 😅

🐋 HUMPBACK WHALE SEASON HAS ARRIVED 🐋

Ocean adventurers… the humpback whales are officially making their way along Australia’s east coast again - and every year, it feels just as magical as the first.

There’s something unforgettable about locking eyes with a humpback in the wild.
The sheer size. The curiosity. The silence underwater before a tail breach changes everything.

Over the next few months, thousands of humpback whales will migrate north to warmer waters - one of the greatest marine journeys on Earth 🌊

And honestly? This is exactly why we keep running our humpback whale expeditions. This year marks 15 years of whale swims! 🎉

Not just to see whales…
But to experience the ocean in a way that reconnects you to nature, adventure, and awe again.

If swimming beside humpbacks, learning marine biology firsthand, and joining a once-in-a-lifetime expedition has ever been on your bucket list… this is your sign 💙

✨ Join the 2027 expedition
✨ Follow along for whale sightings, migration updates & ocean education
✨ Drop a 🐋 below if humpbacks are your favourite marine animal

Most people have never heard of Christmas Island…

…but once you see it, you never forget it 🌿🦀🌊

Remote, wild, and overflowing with life, this tiny island in the Indian Ocean is home to one of the most extraordinary wildlife spectacles on Earth — the legendary red crab migration.

Millions of crabs moving across the jungle and coastline.
Towering cliffs and hidden turquoise coves.
Crystal-clear water, dramatic drop-offs, caves, sharks, vibrant reefs, and marine life everywhere you look.

It’s raw, remote, and feels like stepping into another world.

And now, we’re finally heading there ✨

We’re so excited to officially launch our Ocean Life Scuba Expeditions Christmas Island & Cocos (Keeling) Islands Expedition for 2027 💙

🦀 Christmas Island Expedition
25 October – 1 November 2027

🌴 Optional Cocos (Keeling) Islands Add-On
1 – 5 November 2027

This will be a very small group expedition with limited places available (10–12 guests only).

If Christmas Island has been sitting quietly on your bucket list since those iconic David Attenborough documentaries… this might just be your sign 🦀

One of the gentlest giants in the ocean 🌊

This whale shark is filter feeding - mouth wide open, moving slowly through a cloud of zooplankton, taking in thousands of tiny organisms in a single pass. No teeth. No aggression. Just pure, quiet nature doing its thing.

Moments like this are why I keep coming back to the Maldives.

We're heading to the central and northern atolls this September - 3 spots remaining if this is on your bucket list.

Ever tried spotting a pygmy seahorse? 🧐

These tiny ocean masters of disguise are next-level camouflaged. There are several types - like Bargibant’s, Denise’s, and Satomi’s and each one perfectly matches the colour and texture of its host gorgonian sea fan 🌿… whatever the sea fan looks like, they blend in so well it’s almost impossible to tell where coral ends and seahorse begins.

So what’s the secret to finding them?
🔍 Slow down
🔍 Train your eyes to look for patterns, not shapes
🔍 Scan the polyps (those tiny bumps can give them away)
🔍 And most importantly… PATIENCE. Lots of it.

It’s less about seeing… and more about learning how to see differently. And once you spot your first pygmy seahorse, you’ll never look at a sea fan the same way again 💛

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ONE? Comment YES (where?!) or NOT YET (but on the bucket list).

Bonus: what helped most: torch, macro lens/diopter, a great guide or just eagle eyes? 👀
