Oh hello FB friends! It has been a long time since I've seen you! I've been adjusting to my first few weeks of grad school and enjoying my time off call from the birth world. As I stepped away from birth photography to focus on my Master's degree, I spent some time thinking about what I could still offer the birth photography community at a time when I cannot be on call. I feel that there is a real need for birth photography community building in Toronto and GTA. After having photographed over 150 births and building a thriving business (thanks to my amazing clients) I feel I have a lot to give back and so, I am here offering these workshops!

Two workshops - one for birth professionals (such as doulas) and another for photographers with little or no birth experience. Both happening in November! I would be so very, very happy if you could share this information with your FB friends. These workshops mean so much to me and I can't wait to impart all of my birth photography knowledge!

I posted this picture, of a garden just around the corner from my house, a few months ago on my personal page. I used it to talk about some major changes I was making to get the things out of life I've been seeking. Sometimes we need to leap big to see big results. Those leaps don't always feel comfortable or safe, but with a strong network of support, you don't always have to leap alone.

I will no longer be taking any photography clients (birth or family) for 2017. Calla Evans Photography will be closing its doors after the few clients I have in the beginning of the new year. I'm still available for family sessions this year and would love to connect with some of my past families to do one last portrait session.

There really aren't any words to describe how amazing the past decade has been. I've photographed over 350 weddings, 150 births and countless portrait sessions. Each and every one of you (yes, you!) has a spot in my heart where I will continue to carry the tiny part of your story you shared with me. Know that your support of my business carried me through when I doubted myself and seeing the joy that my images brought and continue to bring to your families gave me light during some of my darkest times.

Even if you're not looking for a family session right now, I hope that we can stay in touch. Feel free to add me as a friend on FB (Calla Evans) or Instagram. I love seeing your families grow and your journeys evolve. May our paths cross again soon.

I love summer babies! All of my August little ones decided to make an appearance this past weekend and it was an adventure. So many congratulations to Sara Colantonio and family on the birth of her little one. I loved watching her look up at you with all her love. What a joyful, beautiful birth.

Ohhhhhhh, Kelly Piccolo and Troy, you make such beautiful children! I hope you are enjoying lots and lots of snuggles after such an amazing adventure yesterday. So happy I was able to be a small part of it.

In the wee hours of this morning, a little lady came into the world. Born into a family full of so much joy and love for her. Konstantina Tsigaridis, she is so perfectly wonderful. Congratulations again and again.

There is something beautiful and simple and oh so wonderful about attending a birth on Mother's Day. The day we've set aside to celebrate mamas in all their forms. I hope your day contains as much joy as today did for this beautiful family. Nicole, you were amazing. What a gift it was to have been a part of your daughter's journey to your arms.

It was lovely working with the wonderful midwives of Mississauga, Brampton and Georgetown to create images that reflected the care they provide for their clients. :)

While winter was giving us one last hurrah last night, a not-so-tiny little one joined his family in a room filled to the brim with warmth and love. Welcome, welcome beautiful boy. Your family adores and loves you with all their hearts. Congrats Megan Battersby-Fitzpatrick, he's perfect.

(It was lovely working with the wonderful midwives from Midwifery Services of Durham & Markham Stouffville Midwives and seeing some familiar faces :))
