Some celebrations carry a different kind of weight.
Just two weeks before their wedding, Chloe and Chris reached out and asked me to photograph their day. For the previous six months, their lives had been centered around hope, perseverance, and love as they organized swab drives and searched for a stem cell donor match for Chloe’s mom. Then, in a moment that feels almost too perfect to be real, they learned a match had been found on the very same day Chris proposed.
A few years ago, I had the privilege of photographing Chloe’s brother AJ’s wedding, so being invited back to document another chapter in their family’s story felt incredibly meaningful. What unfolded was one of the most joyful rooms I’ve ever stood in. The happiness wasn’t performative or fleeting. It was the kind that comes after carrying something heavy for a very long time. After months of uncertainty, advocacy, and unwavering hope, there was finally reason to celebrate.
And celebrate they did. Every embrace lingered a little longer, every laugh rang a little louder, and every person in that room seemed fully aware of just how precious the moment was.
