There are some photographs you don’t truly appreciate until years later.
The ones with grandparents laughing with their grandchildren.
Parents standing beside their grown children.
Siblings together.
The whole family in one frame.
After losing my sister, I learned something I’ll never forget. We always think there will be another birthday, another holiday, another summer when we’ll finally get everyone together for photos.
Sometimes life has other plans.
That’s why extended family sessions mean so much to me.
Not because every outfit matches perfectly or every child is looking at the camera.
But because one photograph can become part of a family’s history. A reminder of who was there, how they laughed, how they loved, and what it felt like to all be together.
Photographs become heirlooms.
Long after the day has passed, they have a way of bringing us back to the people we love and the moments we never want to forget.
That is why I believe they’re always worth taking.
