Thanks to everyone who made it out to my gallery show at S1 in September! This is a copy of my series and essay on Boundaries that was on display. A big thanks to everyone that helped make it happen!

Sempiternal

Boundaries and being bound by its very definition means being constrained, for me there are no greater constraints than those I find within my own mind. In my series I attempted to touch on something more profound than to simply point out where a boundary lies. Instead I tried to delve into the subject's heart, to look at what an internal boundary really is and what it would look like as a physical manifestation. To explore the idea of boundaries I looked into the feelings that I was experiencing when I first began looking into a subject for this project. I was feeling lost, like I was trapped within my mind trying to escape a box of limitations that I had built for myself. I feel like almost anyone can relate to those feelings as a commonly shared human experience. These are feelings we have all had and struggled with at one point or another. My series invites the audience to explore internal struggle without perimeters or limitations set by the typically prescribed words and definitions. My images were created to remove the solitude and alienation related to internal struggle and instead share this altogether too human experience with my audience. In hopes that we can all look at all the human stresses we experience as just that; human stresses and nothing more, small boundaries we overcome everyday rather than the monstrous leviathans we sometime make them out to be. So if just for a moment I'd like to invite some fellow human beings to share a human struggle I recently persisted, in hopes that we can all revel in the complexity and striking simplicity of the human experience and all that it means to be a messy emotional imperfect human being.
