I think that .yirenkyi was happy. Not sure, but he looked pleased to have scored. Late into extra time against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup game, he scored a monumental goal. The crowd behind me were mostly Ghanaian fans. They erupted with joy.

As a professional photographer I am expected to be detached from the emotion and do a job. Last night it was difficult to do. I met a photographer from Panama Grey Diaz Studio in the media room. Super nice young man. Then I say beside a photographer from Nigeria. His smile would light up a room. I met three fans from Vancouver (son, father and grandfather). They shook my hand and thanked me when I offered to take their photo with dad’s camera. The dad was so proud to be there with his father and his son. Then when Ghana scored deep into extra time, the party started. The excitement gave me goosebumps. If that makes me less professional, I’ll live with that.
