The getting ready.
The nervous laughter.
The family formals that somehow became comedy hour.

The little looks between them when nobody else was supposed to be watching.

A short trip to the park, where these two said I do beneath a gazebo tucked into the trees, surrounded by all that lovely green, and then back home again — because apparently the best wedding venue was the one with the good people already in it.

Cocktails in the backyard.
Ch*****ne.
Speeches delivered beneath warm pools of incandescent light.
A room full of people laughing too loudly and crying too easily.

The kind of wedding where the day feels less like an event and more like a very beautiful gathering of people who genuinely, deeply love each other.

And then, naturally, the night ended exactly where it should:

In the dedicated smoking section.

Honestly. A perfect wedding.

Here’s to a marriage full of the same things that made this day so good: good friends, great food, terrible jokes, beautiful surroundings, and enough love to make a backyard feel like the whole world.

THE DEETS:
W**e red florals & buttery ivory silk.

This intimate backyard wedding elevated the norm with its artful, collected tablescapes paired with genuinely exceptional restaurant-level cuisine.

Nothing felt overly produced. It felt considered. Personal. A little eccentric in exactly the right ways.

Hand-illustrated stationery, a gallery wall chronicling the people and years that brought these two here, florals spilling through the tablescape, and a backyard transformed into something somewhere between an intimate garden party and a very chic private supper club.

And the food.

The food.

Corbin Catering absolutely understood the assignment.

A day built by people with an eye for art, a wicked sense of humour, and a very clear understanding that the best kind of luxury is the kind that still feels like home.

THESE TWO!
expertly performs act of melting

Best friends saying I do.

Two arty intellectuals with impeccable taste, an excellent sense of humour, and absolutely no ability to disguise how wildly in love they are.

There were tears. There was laughter. There were the kinds of looks that make a photographer briefly forget she is supposed to be working.

They married surrounded by their favourite people, in a day that felt entirely like them — thoughtful, funny, beautiful without being precious, and just the right amount of unhinged.

Also: a dedicated smoking section.

Mad respect.

May your life together be long, hilarious, deeply loved, creatively curious, and always surrounded by people who know exactly how lucky they are to have you both.

Not to have pulled a Sia over the years, but here’s our fair mugs, had you ever wondered.

We had a moment at the edge of July to update our Team Photos but photographic evidence aside, what we are is not our appearance.

15 years (2368 Bear Traps) in this industry together, & we’re still aging, absorbing, articulating… art-making.

The folds of “the formula” are organically ever-changing, & will continue to throw us around but that’s what keeps it interesting.

We shoot editorial, candid, detail etc & somewhere in that intersection is where we’ve always found our sweet spot. Those who have sought out our services have consistently defined us as more than “documentation”.

We are comfortably adaptable to new aesthetics while preserving the integral bones of professionalism that can grant a smooth-running day without robbing you of precious time.

Because we are inspired by much inside & outside of this wedding bubble. We’ve taken risks that have both failed & succeeded, borrowed, absorbed, discarded, reworked, & occasionally surprised ourselves. We’ve only grown hungrier from every experience.

This social media world has a way of rewarding same’ness, causing a train of remakes we’ll all, from time to time, find ourselves guilty of.

But 15 years in, we’re still more interested in making than remaking.

And there is one thing we’ve learned that no aesthetic, trend, Pinterest board or “formula” can really account for:

You can’t guide candid life.

You can anticipate it. You can create room for it. You can recognize it when it arrives.

But you can’t choreograph the good stuff.

And perhaps that’s why, after all these years, we’re still here for it all.

The DEETS:

Toronto elegance, from start to finish.

The Four Seasons brought the swanky city glamour — polished interiors, soft luxury, and that unmistakable feeling of being somewhere very, very nice.

Sassafraz brought the goods: sensational cuisine, beautiful presentation, and all the deliciousness you’d expect from a proper Yorkville soirée.

Then there were the details — an exquisite gown, beautiful rings catching every little bit of light, and all the refined little touches that make a city wedding feel especially chic.

A little sparkle. A little sophistication. A lot of Toronto.

The kind of wedding where the city feels like part of the dress code.

A swanky Four Seasons Hotel start, a prominent Sassafraz soirée, heartwarming vows, sensational cuisine, and a room full of the people who matter most.

This Toronto couple knew how to keep things interesting, surprising their guest list with an impromptu round of Family Feud à la “How Much Do You Know About the Wedding Couple?”

The result? Revelations. Laughter. Probably some questionable answers.

They closed the night with a delightful cake cutting before unleashing the dance floor — and from there, the evening did exactly what it was supposed to do.

’Twas a properly perfect Toronto wedding: polished, playful, deeply personal, and just the right amount of unexpected.

The laughs & adoring eyes these wedding guests bestowed upon this Manitoulin Wedding Couple was very telling of how truly loved they are.

The day was a gorgeous full-sun summer day that we feel is better defined by our images rather than words because “…worth a thousand words” & all that!

But if we were going to use words, we’d say this:

These two have the kind of love that makes other people happy to be around it.

The kind where the room erupts in laughter during the speeches because the roast has officially begun. The kind where a glance across the room says everything. The kind where your people look at you like they are genuinely thrilled that you found your person.

And somewhere between the ch*****ne explosions, hilarious speeches, heartfelt vows, sunset light & eventually wandering into the lake in full wedding attire, these two gave us one hell of a day to photograph.

Here’s to a marriage surrounded by people who adore you, a lifetime of laughing until your faces hurt & always finding your way back to that look across the room. 🤍
