These are often the only photos she gets to be in all year.

I’ve had a handful of Dad’s or men book their spouses a photo session over the last couple years and everytime I do, I think to myself, what a lucky girl.

95% of my bookings come through the mother. This is data that shows the importance of family photos for Mom’s.

Mom’s are the holders of so much. There’s this mental load that comes with being a mother, but there’s also this quiet, soft, and often unseen connection we have with our children.

I have moments with my kids that I pause and think to myself I wish it could be bottled up forever.

Their little noses squished against mine.

or their cubby cheeks pressed to mine.

or their little arms wrapped around my neck.

To remember those feelings, because I know it fades with time.

Mom’s make such a big deal about family photos because it is bottling up those moments. You get to be in the photos. You get to feel that feeling again because it was captured.

These are all the subscriptions I use consistently in my photography business. I'm not sure I could manage without !

Honeybook: This is my holy grail for managing all things clients – were talking emails, inquiries, contracts, scheduling, questionnaires, and so much more. Honeybook was one of the first things I set up when I started and I’m so glad I did.

Pic-Time: I also signed up for Pic-Time immediately once I started my photography business. I knew I wanted to provide families with a gallery experience that was smooth and beautiful. I started with the beginner option which was super budget friendly if you’re just getting started!

Lightroom Classic: This is an obvious and I’m not sure how you can do photography without this, outside of using photoshop possibly?? I don’t use photoshop, only lightroom. I found a few base presets that I love and tweak them for each of my sessions.

Flodesk: I held off on this for a while, but wish I had started sooner. It’s a little on the pricier side, but your email list is SO important (even though I’m terrible at nurturing mine) I know I have those people that I can always connect with and serve.

Canva: I use this for all my marketing content. You don’t need the premium version, I just find that I like a lot of the premium options way better so I opted for that!

A lot can happen in one month, here are a few from January and what I rate them. Staring off strong..

My Instagram accounts being disabled. 0/10. A horrible feeling, very difficult to get a hold of Meta..

Little Great Wolf Lodge getaway with the fam. 9/10. The highlight of my girls year I’m sure – tiring for Mom & Dad.

Showing my face & more of me on my feed. 7/10. Not as bad as I anticipated once I got a few videos under my belt.

Getting back into routine after the much enjoyed holidays. 10/10. I thrive with routine and start to crumble without.

Bedtime games with my twinies. 8/10. A highlight of my day, one little red head who is a sore loser, so sometimes can backfire on me.

Meeting and shooting some new and some familiar families. 10/10. Always.

Starting potty training. 3/10. My least favourite parenting responsibility/transition, but she’s ready.

My oldest started wearing makeup. 7/10. I love that she is feeling confident and learning to express herself – I don't love that she is stealing mine & it feels like she’s growing up too fast.

A lot can happen in just 30 days, share something exciting or not so exciting from this past month. Looking forward to longer and hopefully warmer days in Feb & what Feb brings us!
