So, I met this terrific lady named Diane, at Artist Project, and she really wanted to take home my painting Indulgence.

However, I’d literally just learned that the painting had been accepted into a huge art competition so the painting was marked as “on hold” and wouldn’t be available until I knew the outcome of the competition months later in September.

She was disappointed, but asked if I’d ever explore painting something similar. My answer was yes.

But what does that pie painting have to do with lime margaritas?

Well, in the process of getting that new pie painting organized, Diane also commissioned a painting for her friend’s birthday. Her friend is a huge fan of lime margaritas, so I made some drinks and set them up on a couple of different fabric backgrounds and sent her a ton of reference photos, she landed on this one!

Which by the way, this isn’t my first margarita rodeo 🍸🐎 I think I have a collection of almost 20 cocktail paintings which are now available as prints on my website haha.

Anyways, fast forward months later, I didn’t win the art competition, but serendipitously, Diane couldn’t stop thinking about Indulgence and she’d concluded earlier that commissioning something similar just didn’t have that spark for her. So when my painting became available again, it very quickly had a new, beloved home to go to ❤️

Thank you so much Diane, it was such fun painting some more margaritas and finding a terrific home for my pie painting, Indulgence.

Hi! So it’s been A WHILE now that I’ve been saying that I’ve been working on a total overhaul of my print catalogue….and it’s finally live! 🤗

34 new prints, 6x6” canvas prints and featuring the entire collection of new work I’ve been making over the summer and prints of all the paintings I did for Artist Project in the spring can now be found on my website 😮‍💨

Hi! I’m Hannah! 🤎 There’s so many new faces here that I’m reintroducing myself!

‼️ Please note: I don’t monitor my page as often as Instagram! If you’ve commented or messaged me here, I may not see it for a bit as it’s impossible to stay on top of it all! 🙃🫶🏼

I’m from Ottawa and live in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦

Growing up, I was always creative but what I wanted to be was an author. I’m a voracious reader (mostly audiobooks now-a-days while I paint) and while I dabble in most genres, I always go back to fantasy (leave me some book recommendations!!)

Some of my fave books are:

- This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews (newest fave!)
- The Devils by Joe Abercrombie
- Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy

My love for writing had me pursue a journalism degree from Carleton University, which I now use to write social media content 😜🙃 I’m mostly a self-taught artist but did attend an incredible year at the Ottawa School of Art from 2020-2021 for their year long portfolio certificate program and it was life-changing.

I have an amazing life partner, Sheldon, and an adorably weird Australian Shepherd, Moxie, my soul dog and our Golden Retriever puppy Mongo 🦖

I co-own a residential painting company with my partner and run my home studio in every available moment around that.

I always take a photo of the sunset. Always.🌞

Aside from painting, I love to spend my time and money on plane tickets, gardening, adventures for my dog, unique dinners, backcountry camping and finding weird home decor on Facebook Marketplace or Etsy lol.

So blessed to be one of 100 artists selected for Art Comp Canada’s largest art competition! 🇨🇦

This panting, Indulgence, is a special one to me, so it’s extra exciting that it was the one selected out of the couple I submitted. Indulgence marks my transition as an artist from painting with acrylics, to learning oil paint. I started out with this one in acrylic, painting the pie filling, then switched to oil to finish off the fork, pie crust and knife. I couldn’t get my acrylics to render the fork in the right way and so opposed to forcing things, I took a break, taught myself how to paint with water-mixable oil paints and returned a few months later to wrap it up!

We often measure the passage of time in big milestones: birthdays, anniversaries, vacations. This has a fast-forward effect on our lives, diminishing our daily experiences to mere blips. Indulgence is a scene where the pause button was hit, mid-way through enjoying a slice of blueberry pie. The colour and curve of light across the filling is meant to entice dessert aficionados but also encourage the measurement of our lives to include the little, vivacious moments over the span of our days. Pause for the slice of pie, the glimmer of sunlight against the floorboards, the sound of wind chimes, the quiet peace of a pet asleep on the couch. Breathe deep and pause.

Print testing is underway!! 😍

Are 6x6” prints and tiled prints something you’d be interested in?

A commission I finished up recently that required a scavenger hunt trip to Bulk Barn to find their sour fruit juice berry candy as they are my client’s wife’s favourite (I can attest they are pretty tasty!) 🩷

When picking a fabric background for them to sit on, my client told me his wife loves red and pink, so we went with one of my absolute favourite fabrics that I’ve used for a couple of paintings now! So fun how this can get reused again and again and feel so unique each time 🥰
