Ep. 28’s ice‑out adventure began with a last‑minute reservation to a section of the park I had never explored. A much waited opportunity to visit the North section of the park turned into a 60 km, three‑night push into Algonquin North — cold, relentless, and unforgettable — packed with battles against brutal winds, a gruelling seven‑portage day, and the chance to paddle some of Algonquin’s biggest lakes..

The Big Trout Loop in Algonquin has many variations.
This is a three‑night attempt at the 69 km route, swinging back via Sunbeam Lake. It became my longest trip yet — filled with long paddles, tough portages, gorgeous scenery, multiple moose sightings, and one brutally low‑water section I won’t forget anytime soon.

An unforgettable loop with equal parts challenge and reward, cutting through a huge stretch of the park I had never explored before.
