An air reciever at the winze station. Unfortunately, it looks like someone took a sawzall to the valve since I was down here last. Between rot and looting, it's crazy any of this has survived this long.

Vaulted timbering in a main haulage way. Back when this mine was operational, a locomotive would have traveled through here bringing carts to and from the mill. Now, it's collapsed to the point where it's impassable.

Timbering through some softer ground. There was lots of loose rock all around, and parts of this drift had already totally collapsed in. It's the sort of place where you don't want to disturb your surroundings.

A couple of (very) old tools we found in the latest mine we've explored. On the left is a monkey wrench, the predecessor to the pipe wrench. On the right is a curved adjustable wrench. Both were sitting in a drift that was originally dammed off, and it's impossible to say how long they were sitting underwater. I'd say quite a while.

Headframe over a winze in an abandoned gold mine on Lake Superior. I'm not sure how deep the winze is, but the weirdest thing is that the hole has a ton of sticks on top of it that look like they were chewed by a beaver. I'm not too sure how or why they're in here.

A modified ore cart that had the bucket chopped off and replaced with a flat deck. I'm guessing it was for moving timbers around, but really it could have been for anything.

A large stope on the 5th level. The sand has washed down from surface, from a backfilled/collapsed shaft over where the light is coming from.

A large stoped out room which used to house a hoist. To the left is an inclined winze; I'm not sure of its' depth, but it is now flooded to the top. If I recall correctly, this was down on the 4th level.

An exploratory drift down on the 5th level of a long abandoned mine. The tunnels seem to twist and turn forever down here.
