Saturday Drama

Lately, I’ve been reading about maximalism in photography—the philosophy where “more is more,” filling the frame with a riot of color, patterns, and intense detail. I usually prefer a more natural look with minimal editing, but I wanted to lean into a little more drama for this series.

Nature absolutely delivered on the “riot of color” front. They might not be true maximalism, but stepping out of my comfort zone was exactly what the creative juices needed. Slide to see the transformation! 👉

Symphony of Silks

One of those rare, perfect mornings where you cannot wait to get back to your computer and look at your shots. You almost need confirmation that what you witnessed was actually as beautiful as you remember! Between the perfectly still water and the colorful, shapely clouds, it was an absolutely incredible sunrise—the kind that leaves you on a total high for the rest of the day. There is nothing quite like the power of nature.

Also, a huge, heartfelt thank you to the “Friends of Humber Bay” volunteers. 🙏🌞 Your hard work cleaning up the park makes beautiful mornings like this even more special! Thanks for the new “rock” makes for a great foreground

My absolute favorite conditions for this alignment season lined up perfectly: glassy, calm water, deep layers of moody clouds, intense color, and those stunning marina reflections.

Planning these shots is always a game of chess with nature. Thankfully, I chose to target the CN Tower’s observation level for this alignment instead of the very top. If I’d aimed for the tip, it would have been completely swallowed by the cloud layer! ☁️🗼

High on Adventure

Waking up before the sun (3:15am to be exact) to drift over the Sonoran Desert is an experience that truly belongs on every bucket list. The quiet of the morning, broken only by the occasional roar of the burner, makes for a peaceful perspective of the landscape as it transitions from blue hour to golden hour.

There is nothing quite like seeing the sun crest over the mountains while floating thousands of feet in the air. If you ever get the chance, take the flight—the views are absolutely worth the early wake-up call!
