One thing nobody talks about enough?

How much better photos turn out when you genuinely get along with the people you’re photographing.

Elaine and Renzoe’s engagement session at Mint Room Studios felt less like work and more like spending an afternoon with friends. From the moment we started, the conversation flowed, the jokes kept coming, and before long they completely forgot there was a camera in the room.

That comfort changes everything.

You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to be naturally photogenic. You don’t need to practice in the mirror beforehand.

You just need to feel comfortable enough to be yourselves.
The best moments from this session weren’t the perfectly posed ones. They were the laughs between directions, the little looks they gave each other, and the moments where they got lost in their own world for a second.

That’s always what I’m chasing.

The Library Room was the perfect backdrop. Cozy, romantic, and full of character. But what really made these photos was Elaine and Renzoe. Their energy, their connection, and how willing they were to trust the process and have fun with it.

If your biggest fear is feeling awkward in front of the camera, you’re probably exactly the kind of couple I love working with.
Because chances are, ten minutes in, we’ll be laughing about something completely unrelated to photos.

And that’s usually when the magic happens 📸

People are starting to question how much of a wedding is actually for them versus how much of it is performance.

So they got ready together.
No forced separation all morning for the sake of a reaction photo later. No pretending they hadn’t already built a life together before the ceremony.

She wore velvet red because white never felt connected to her identity or personality. And somehow that choice alone made the day feel more honest.

They got married at City Hall, walked through downtown for portraits, let the city exist around them instead of trying to control every second of it, then ate street meat afterwards on the sidewalk still dressed in wedding clothes 🌭🍟

And weirdly, that sequence of events felt more romantic than most highly produced weddings.

Maybe intimacy has less to do with luxury and more to do with emotional accuracy.
Maybe the reason these smaller weddings resonate so deeply is because there’s less distance between the people and the experience itself.

No spectacle.
No expectation to perform sentimentality.
Just two people making choices that actually reflected who they are 🫶🏻

Thinking of getting married at Toronto City Hall but have no idea where to start? That’s exactly why I created my step-by-step Toronto City Hall Wedding Guide.

Because let’s be honest — figuring out licences, ceremony bookings, timing, witnesses, what to wear, where to stand, and how to make it actually feel special can feel overwhelming fast. Most couples assume City Hall means quick and basic. It doesn’t have to.

A Toronto City Hall wedding can be intimate, stylish, stress-free, and one of the best ways to get married in the city. The secret is knowing the process and planning it well.

I can tell you this: the couples who have the smoothest, most beautiful experience are the ones who plan ahead.

You do not need a huge guest list or a massive production to have a meaningful wedding day. You just need the right information and a little intention.
If you’re planning a Toronto City Hall wedding in 2026 or beyond, go grab the guide at the link in my bio.

It’ll save you time, stress, and probably a few panic spirals too.

If you’re getting married in Toronto and want a venue that feels timeless, elegant, and full of character… Knox College deserves a spot on your list.

Right in the heart of the city, this venue gives old-world European energy without leaving Toronto. The historic architecture, grand stone exterior, stunning archways, and refined interiors create a backdrop that feels rich, romantic, and effortlessly elevated.

It’s one of those rare spaces that looks incredible in every season. Sunny summer weddings feel bright and regal, fall weddings feel cinematic, and winter weddings feel straight out of a movie.

What I love most about Knox College is that it brings presence to a wedding day. You don’t need to overdo decor because the venue already speaks for itself. Every hallway, staircase, and courtyard adds depth, texture, and story to your photos.

For couples who want a wedding that feels classic, stylish, and unforgettable, this is the kind of place your guests will talk about long after the night ends.

Toronto has some beautiful venues… but this one is in a lane of its own.

Save this for your Toronto wedding inspiration 🤍

12 years ago, Jeremy asked Izza to be his girlfriend at the skating rink in Nathan Phillips Square.

I got to photograph them returning to that exact spot… as husband and wife after saying “I do” at Toronto City Hall.

And honestly? That’s the kind of wedding magic people don’t talk about enough. It’s not always about the fanciest venue or the biggest production.

Sometimes the most meaningful photos happen in the places that already hold your story.

The bench where you had your first date. The coffee shop you practically lived in.The street you walked every Sunday. The rink where it all began.

Those locations carry emotion. History. Nostalgia. And when you bring that into your wedding portraits, your gallery becomes more than beautiful photos, it becomes personal.

Jeremy + Izza’s portraits felt like a full-circle moment. Same place, different season of life. From boyfriend + girlfriend… to husband + wife.

If you’re planning a City Hall wedding or intimate celebration, don’t feel like portraits need to happen in random pretty places. Let’s build your photo locations around your story. That’s where the real magic lives.
Your love deserves photos that actually mean something.

with time stamps + no trending audio 😎

snow falling, the city moving at its usual pace — and a couple quietly getting married in the middle of it all.

No drama.
No chaos.
Just soft light, fresh snow, and that calm, “this feels right” energy.

Winter City Hall weddings have their own kind of magic.
The light is even. The crowds thin out. The snow does half the styling for you.

Everything feels simple, honest, and very Toronto.
Proof that a wedding doesn’t need sunshine or summer vibes to feel warm.

Sometimes all it takes is showing up, saying yes, and letting the day be exactly what it is. 🤍❄️

Most couples think a City Hall wedding is just a quick legal formality.

But once you actually see how the day flows, it makes a lot more sense why so many couples are choosing it now.

You show up with the people closest to you.
You sign, say your vows, and just like that — you’re married. No months of planning stress, no huge production, no pressure to entertain a crowd.

And then comes the best part: stepping out into the city as newlyweds, taking photos, grabbing a drink or heading to dinner, and actually getting to enjoy the moment together.

Toronto City Hall weddings are simple, yes — but they’re also calm, intimate, and surprisingly emotional in the best way
If you’re thinking about going this route, hopefully this guide gives you a clearer idea of what to expect and how to plan your day so it still feels special and intentional.

And if you’re planning one soon — take your time after the ceremony. Walk around. Laugh a little. Let it sink in.

Those in-between moments?
They usually end up being everyone’s favorite photos. 📸
