I was happy to be a part of the Shoulder-To-Shoulder: We Are All Treaty People Rally on Tuesday, March 3, at Province House. This gallery of photos and an event recap can also be found on the Save Our Old Forests website: https://saveouroldforests.ca/events/past-events/

This PC government is acting ignorantly to their own Treaty responsibilities, and is blatantly targeting Mi'kmaq and their Treaty Rights through changes in legislation, and strategically planned truckhouse raids (i.e., those that occurred during the rally). This government fails to consult meaningfully with Mi'kmaq leaders and governance, and is raiding the land that sustains allof us, but calls it "Defending Nova Scotians".

Tim Houston ran his campaign on "Nova Scotia Pride" and is now defunding everything that makes this place worth being proud of. He is prioritizing resource extraction, placing only a very specific, monetary value on the SHARED LAND that sustains ALL of us.

This government has gone too far. From restructuring DNR and abolishing their wildlife and forest health values, to the budget cuts that are affecting Indigenous and Black Nova Scotians, and Nova Scotians with disabilities disproportionately, it is clear just how much this government takes this province for granted.

It was empowering to gather with hundreds of people outside Province House. Government employees peeked through the curtains of the windows on the top floor of the legislature, peering down on all of us as we screamed and shouted, "Tim Houston, RESIGN!"

Enough is enough. Time for an election.
