When you photograph a wedding with someone, you get to know them extremely well.
I'm not just talking about the chatting over dinner, or before we fall asleep in our hotel room.
I'm talking about building a connection and comfort level that borders on mind reading.
It becomes a symbiotic relationship, instinctively knowing where each other are at all times; when to pivot as they shift. It's about working together to create something for your clients, but also working together to create something as friends, as a a team.
Callen and I have been shooting together, literally for years. We have that instinct together down.
Kirsten joined our team this past weekend, and she instinctively slid in seemlessly.
Aside from her big, shiny personality, making her a joy to be around - she's a pro at what she does, and a skilled asset on a wedding day.
Our faces light up like children on Christmas as we share techniques, ideas, learning. No matter how long you've been shooting, there is always something to learn. She taught me a few tricks, I taught her a few tricks.
And, together, the three of us made magic.
Thank you Callen Lehman Media, thank you Sees the Day Photography, for the images and video, for the conversation, the laughter, the after wedding impromptu dance party and 2:00 am dinner.
You're both consummate professionals, and I'm deeply grateful.
Another fabulous wedding in the books for the Carla and Kirsten duo! I can’t even express how grateful I am to have Carla in my life as a friend and as a photographer, I feel like every time we are together we are learning something new from each other. The amount of techniques you can learn from another Photographer by just working with them is phenomenal. You really don’t know what you have as valuable skill until you meet another photographer that has no idea what you’re doing but wants to learn! I have taught Carla so much and she has taught me so much. I loved every minute of this weekend’s wedding! Thank you Carla Lehman, you and Callen are amazing to work with!
