Early this morning a horrific fire broke out at the Terrace Bowling Lanes. This lead to the city of Terrace and surrounding areas woke up to the loss of something many of us never thought would disappear especially this way.
The Terrace Bowling Alley was not just another business. It was one of those rare places that quietly became part of people’s lives for decades. First dates, birthday parties, school trips, league nights, family weekends, rainy afternoons, community fundraisers, thousands of memories existed inside that building.
For many longtime residents like myself and siblings and parents, the bowling alley was part of growing up in Terrace itself.
No matter your background, age, or where you came from, almost everyone in Terrace had a story connected to this wonderful place at some point in their life.
Seeing a landmark with so much of terraces history damaged by this horrific fire is genuinely emotional for this community. I know I cried a bit this morning when I found out.
A huge thank you to the Terrace Fire Department, Thornhill Fire Department, RCMP, BC EHS, and everyone involved in responding early this morning.
