That’s a wrap on Makin' Waves presented by Sydney Credit Union for another summer 📸

Despite the ever changing weather, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality put on one heck of a concert series yet again. A big thank you to the Recreation Dept for having me back! ❤️

Do you have an event planned and need a photographer? Let’s talk 😄

Production stills for Theatre Baddeck’s presentation of Myth Of The Ostrich 🎭

Shooting these and keeping a straight face was no easy task. Not only was this hilarious, it was so well done! Playing now until July 25th, I highly recommend going to see this!! ✨

Production credits: Theatre Baddeck’s production of Myth of the Ostrich by Matt Murray. Directed by Mary-Colin Chisholm. Lighting Design by Bea Crowther. Starring: Geneviève Steele, Hannah Ziss, Christy MacRae-Ziss.

Since I’ve never really done a proper intro post, here goes nothin’ eh? 😄

I’m Shane, a photographer from Cape Breton Island, NS.

My passion for all things cameras started very young when I used to burn through my mom’s film because I liked the shutter sound and advancing the film.

I got my first camcorder in 2004 and spent years filming skateboarding. In early 2021, I picked up a camera and unexpectedly fell in love with photography.

These days you’ll find me behind a camera, on a skateboard, hiking to a waterfall, wandering around Cape Breton or trying to keep up with wherever my ADHD has decided we’re going next.

I love spending time with my wife, my dog Richard and cat Garrison.

Photography has introduced me to some incredible people and experiences, and I’m beyond grateful for every bit of it.

If you have an event or press release planned this summer and are looking for a photographer, I'd love to hear about it. Let’s chat ✌️📸

Earlier this month, Cape Breton University and the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine marked the grand opening of the Cape Breton Medical Campus.

This state of the art facility will support the education of future doctors in Nova Scotia and national wide.

It was an honour to cover such a historic day for CBU and our community. 📸🧡

Take a look at Island Wide Waterfall Weekend through my lens 📸

With the Inverary Resort on Baddeck Bay as our home base, we explored waterfalls, enjoyed Mary Frances at Big Spruce Brewing then blew a tire deep in the highlands on Saturday

Sunday kicked off with a 9am dance party at Highwheeler Cafe & Bakery with Jonathan Kanary and after that it was time to explore. The weekend wrapped up with a group hike to Kluscap’s Cave with Graham Marshall along with traditional drumming and story telling. This was truly an amazing experience.

Thank you Cape Breton Island for another wonderful Waterfall Weekend!

The fun isn’t over!! Don’t forget to download the waterfall app, explore the falls, check out the pit stops, enter to win the contest and have fun doing it!! ❤️

Are you ready for Waterfall Season in Cape Breton!? 💦

The festivities kick off on May 16th, with Cape Breton Island ambassadors heading out on 10 different waterfall hikes throughout the island. These are open to the public and free to attend! 🥾

After that, head to Big Spruce Brewing for a free all ages concert with Mary Frances and enjoy food from Bistro Fiset, Rose’s Smash Burgers, Trickdough and stop by the vintage market! 🍔

The fun doesn’t stop there! Dance the morning away on May 17th with daytime DJ Kanary at the Highwheeler Cafe & Bakery from 9am-12pm! 🎵

Which waterfall hike will you be heading out to? Let us know! 👇
