I can tell you all about how much I love art, and how I've always been more art-minded, versus science-minded (which is true). I can tell you about my really pretty camera and all the cool lens I got. I can even tell you where I learned my techniques, the different workshops I've taken, and how I've self-taught myself into having my own unique photographic eye. All these things can inf

orm you that I am technically qualified for the job, but it doesn't really tell you about who I am. After all, we know it is not the kitchen appliances that make the chef. When I meet someone, I am accustomed to hearing their story, and knowing who they are underneath the layers of public knowledge. I want to know what makes them tick, what makes them beautiful, what makes them unique. You can say this comes from my experience and education as a Master's level mental health therapist (aka a shrink). But I think it has more to do with my need for authentic and sincere connection with people. I love to know how we are all similar, and yet so different. I want to identify what someone's true beauty is. During this process of getting to know me, I get to know you. You tell me your story, your life, sometimes even your secrets. I build this tapestry of who you are, and I come to see you in the artistic angles that you show me. I can paint pictures of you with my camera. And that's what comes out into the photos. I paint who are you with my camera. When you hire me, you are hiring a flawed, unique, beautifully rich and sometimes broken girl-into-woman. I love my family with something fierce inside me. I am in love with the man I married, even after 20 years of being together -- our times together feel like a short forever. I love the two girls we made together, with ingredients that include sugar and spice and yes, even everything nice. I love this perfect world we live in, with all its flaws and its beauty. I love the complex ways we feel and the joys and tears we make. I am a fierce left-wing, human rights activist, with giant idealist values that include equal rights for all and hatred for none. I am a peace activist, and I'm outspoken about my values. I have very few enemies and it's hard for me to say no to someone I care about. I like to make people happy. I like to see children smile. My favorite shows are The Walking Dead (because it speaks to the complexity of the human spirit) and This Is Us (because it's simply a feel-good show that makes me cry way too much). I'm sappy, I'm a hopeless romantic, and I believe in grand gestures. And even if you don't hire me, you would have a friend for life. It's been a while! I'm doing something extra special and near and dear to my heart. At the same time, I also hope it is worth your while.

I am creating another contest. This time, it is for child photography as I slowly step back into the world of professional photography. It's been over 2 years since I've done a professional photo shoot, and my camera is pretty darn dusty. I know those of you on my waiting list are still patiently waiting for your turn in front of my camera, and I am so thankful for your loyalty.

THIS CONTEST is a little different, though. I am creating a lottery for two lucky winners, for a photoshoot for up to 2 children. This lottery is for charity. Please read further if you are interested in entering (and READ CAREFULLY!!).

WHAT:

Lottery for saving my best friend's children from sexual, physical, and psychological abuse from their biological father. We are raising funds up to $26,000 CAD to hire specialized legal aids to remove custody from this man's hands. Many of you know my best friend as she was my assistant when booking your shoot all those months and years ago.

WHO:

The lottery entries will accept all applicants who enter to win ONE 1-hr child photoshoot for up to 2 children (ages infant to 16 years old).

HOW - $30 TO ENTER:

REQUIREMENT: Each lottery ticket is $30 to enter. You can enter as many as you'd like to increase your odds. You may pay me directly (e-transfer to [email protected]) or pay via the GoFundMe link provided in this post.

REQUIREMENT: You must share the GoFundMe link at least ONCE on your Facebook profile, publicly (it doesn't matter how often you enter - only one public share is required). Please include in your post a link to the contest for more others to enter and add to the GoFundMe.

OPTIONAL: For every new friend who donates at least $30 via the GoFundMe link earns you an additional free entry! (You just need to msg and let me know who it was).

WINNING PHOTO SHOOTS:

There will be TWO winners in this lottery!

Each photo shoot will earn you: 1) 1-hour shoot in an outdoor location mutually agreed upon by the photographer (myself) and the winner, 2) 15 high-res digital images sent to your email with printing rights, 3) consultation on outfits, posing, 4) full edited photos. This full experience is worth $600.

Winners have up to ONE YEAR to redeem or forfeit the photo shoot.

You may add additional people up to 5 people for the photo shoot for an additional $50.

100% of all entries will go directly to the GoFundMe cause. Please do take the time to read the story. It is heart-wrenching and awful, and these children's lives are quite literally in danger.

No studio shoots are available at this time; outdoors only.

Only 2 reschedules are allowed before the winning session is forfeited, and a new winner will be chosen instead.

Printing rights are included in the prize, but the copyright stays with the photographer.
