Yesterday's post made me realize I need more of this little cutie's face on my grid 🤍

She was the very first baby to wear this cozy knit sweater from my studio wardrobe, and I think it's safe to say it was a good choice.

My studio wardrobe is here to take one more thing off your plate. There's no need to shop for a special outfit, wonder whether it will fit, arrive on time, or match the aesthetic. Everything I offer has been carefully curated to fit newborns perfectly, photograph beautifully, and complement the timeless style my clients come to me for.

This particular cardigan and bloomer set was made by ɴᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴ ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏ ᴘʀᴏᴘs 🇺🇦 , a company I've admired and shopped at for years. Their outfits are beautifully crafted, incredibly soft, and designed to fit newborn proportions properly.

I admire them even more because they're based in Ukraine. Knowing that they've continued to produce high-quality, beautiful items and kept up their amazing customer service despite everything their country has been through is so inspiring.

This isn't a sponsored post, and I don't have a special discount code or affiliate link to share. I just want to show some love and support a business that consistently does great work, so I'm shouting out ɴᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴ ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏ ᴘʀᴏᴘs 🇺🇦 today 🥰

*ahem* 🥹

I'm very honoured to have won First Place in APNPI's Spring 2026 Newborn Photography Competition, along with Third Place in the Milestone category, and a Silver Distinction Award for another newborn image.

It's not lost on me how incredibly lucky I am to have my work recognized in this way by an organization I respect so much, especially knowing how many talented photographers submit their work to this competition.

Even though I've won first place in previous years, that doesn't make this feel any less special.

I'm especially grateful to the families who trust me not only to document such an important moment in their lives, but also to be one of the first people to meet and hold their new baby.

The opportunity to hold beautiful little babies who bring me so much joy is a privilege I'll never take for granted.

Thank you to APNPI for the recognition, my friends and family for their support and encouragement, and congratulations to all of the other talented photographers whose work was recognized this season!

Your photos are about the memory attached to them, not about perfection.

The focus is on the feeling in that moment, and all the little details from that time. In a perfect world, we'd remember everything, but as our babies grow and each new version of them emerges, the details become fuzzy over time.

I love this first photo so much, and yet I've held back from posting it more times than I can count because of my own perfectionism.

Baby's Dad and I were working together to put baby in the most comfortable, well supported position. I had intended to either have both of baby's hands resting, or to have him grip one of his Dad's fingers to show off that incredibly powerful newborn strength and how tiny his hands were.

Baby had other plans. He chose interpretive dance instead.

As newborns often do, he wanted to enjoy his newfound freedom with a stretch and wiggle, throwing his hands in the air "like he just don't care!"

After, I worried too much about his hand looking uncomfortable. I kept thinking it "ruined" a photo that I otherwise adore.

But now, I'm choosing to view it differently. I see a Dad with strong, tattooed hands holding his brand new baby close, supporting something impossibly tiny and precious.

I see a reminder that newborn babies are incredibly bendy and rarely interested in following directions, as well as the startle reflex that's a hallmark of this stage.

Sure, we took photos with his arm in a more comfortable position soon after, but I think the "imperfection" makes it real.

Years from now, the family will look back and all they'll see is how tiny he was, how easily he fit into his Dad's hands, and what it felt like to hold and love him in that moment. (And who could forget that adorable face?)

This is one of my favorite poses for sitting babies.

I place them facing away from me, wait for a little bit, and then either call their name or start singing or making a silly noise that will get them to look at me over their shoulder.

The result is adorable every time 😍

It's that time of year to share my favorite baby bunnies of the past 💕

I was sad to miss doing "Bunny Babies" minis this year because of my broken foot, since seeing these little cuties in their bonnet and bunny tails always brings me such joy!!

I'm grateful that my foot is all better now and I'm back to enjoying having sweet little visitors in my studio. 🥰

My favorite thing about the "sitter stage" (6-9 months old) is being able to capture a baby's burgeoning personality.

Once they've mastered the basics of rolling over, sitting, and grasping toys in their hands, their personality starts to show in a BIG way, and it's a joy to see!

Swipe to see all the adorable and funny expressions this little guy gave me 😆 (spot the "blue steel", anyone?)

It's a blessing to be able to capture these moments. Parents doting on their new babies, soaking in all those sweet baby snuggles, and looking at them with so much love in their eyes. The kind of photos you'll look back on year after year, and think "where did the time go?"

As I sit here with my broken foot, unable to take new photos for a little while - this is the perfect time to share some of the gorgeous galleries I haven't posted yet, and go back and look through my favorites from years past.
