Come along as I photographed a surprise proposal on the East Coast Trail a few weeks ago! Justin reached out to me from Ontario to set up this surprise proposal, and we had a few strategy chats on where to go - this location was stunning, and didn’t disappoint!

I took some videos of the beautiful walk out, and caught them as they climbed down the path.

I'm just starting to catch up on posting some of these beautiful lupin sessions from early July! I'm in love with this session - I've been photographing this lovely family for years, and I just love watching the kiddos as they grow. (P.S. guys, STOP growing LOL!).

Last night we had the best experience at the Weird Al concert at the Canadian Tire Centre. My sons love Weird Al, and I just how he’s all about individuality (I also grew up listening to him with my brother).

We’re visiting from NL and forgot our noise cancelling headphones, so we had the discussion that if things got too over stimulating and loud, we could leave a bit early. We openly talk about these boundaries and what supports we need in our family to feel comfortable and happy!

I’ve been to a lot of concerts over the years and often the long lines, long waits and crowds can be overwhelming generally - but the process at the Canadian Tire Centre was fantastic and straightforward. No long lines, yes crowds, but well staffed and everyone was super helpful!

We found our seats and I popped out to go to the washroom and walked by a customer service desk with a sign that said “Sensory Bags Available Here”. I approached the staff (I wish I got their names, the supervisor was this very kind man, and the woman at the desk was so helpful - thanks to you both). I asked if during the concert the boys felt overwhelmed, could I pop back for some headphones and they said why don’t you take it with you now! I didn’t want to take it if someone else needed it, but they were so kind and made me feel great about it all. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I brought the bag (from ) back to our seats and the boys each took a set of noise cancelling headphones immediately, and each used a fidget while we waited for the show to start (they said it was already loud - and that the headphones helped a lot). When the show started, they took them off to see if they could do without but quickly put them back on - they said the headphones made it great to listen to the show without being too overstimulated!

It was just so nice to be able to fully participate in the moment knowing that everyone’s needs were met and supported.

The show was great and the crowd was so wholesome - so many people rocking their Hawaiian shirts à la Weird Al.

I’m just really grateful.

Cabot Tower, through the lupins.

Cabot Tower stands marking the entrance to St. John’s harbour and has become an iconic landmark of the city. It’s a favourite hiking/walking spot of many locals and tourists alike, and a gorgeous lookout view at the top as a reward for the climb.

Cabot Tower tower housed signalling functions until 1958, and is associated with Marconi who received the first trans-Atlantic transmission of the human voice at Signal Hill in 1920. It was built as a monument to John Cabot’s 1497 voyage to North America and to the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign.

This isn't just a rugged cliff; it’s Cape Spear, the absolute easternmost point of North America. We went for a little hike around today and the light was really interesting there! Cloudy and dark in spots and super bright in others. Normally when I photograph things, I want even, soft light, but I loved the dramatic look of the shadows and light patches. Then, the clouds moved off, and it was all sun for the rest of our walk around.

Cape Spear is not just a stunning view, it is home to Newfoundland’s oldest surviving lighthouse, standing since 1836. It also happens to be one of my favourite spots to visit and just look out at the ocean and take a breath. The climb up many steps to the lighthouse is worth the view! Often if you stay a while, you can see whales just playing around in the water. We saw one off in the distance today (out of camera range!), but had just a lovely afternoon nonetheless.

My little 4 year old made the hike up to the lighthouses and down the side of the cliff, past the canon to the viewing point - and he still had energy to burn at a birthday party right after LOL. Oh to have that much energy.

One of my favourite historic places is Signal Hill. A lot of the shots you’ll see of the hill face in the opposite direction, facing the tower, but this is my favourite view! A lovely little hike up, or a drive if you’re feeling leisurely, and the view is just stunning.

From here, you can see many of the other historic sights that St. John’s has to offer. Is that what the kids call meta? Or was that what the kids called it when I was a kid? Ok that definitely probably doesn’t mean that but what a beautiful spot to be but to also view other beautiful spots!

I had two reasons for heading to the MUN Botanical Garden for Twilight Thursday last night.

The first? I had heard there was a family of ducklings making the gardens home, and I was crossing my fingers I'd be lucky enough to find them.

The second? To experience the beautiful evening event, complete with the incredible Octatonic Decadence Ensemble performing from kayaks on the pond.

Thankfully, I did. 🦆💛

Watching this proud mama lead her fluffy little ducklings across the water while music drifted through the gardens was one of those moments that makes you stop, smile, and simply soak it all in. Between the golden evening light, the peaceful atmosphere, and these adorable little explorers, it felt like summer in Newfoundland at its very best.

Sometimes the best photo outings aren't about chasing a specific image; they're about being present when nature and a little bit of magic come together.

Did you know that ducklings photograph simikarly to little kids? 🤣🦆 The adult ducks are much easier to capture at full sharpness (my constant obsession!) but the ducklings were silly and moving around being playful like real kiddos - so they made me work a little harder for their photos (which in my opinion, could have been sharper, if they'd just chilled out - like my own kids LOL).

A tiny worker, surrounded by a sea of lupins, carrying out one of nature's most important jobs. 💜🐝

Every summer, Newfoundland's roadsides transform into rivers of purple as the lupins burst into bloom. 💜 While they weren't originally native to the island, they've become one of the most recognizable sights of the season, painting hillsides and fields with spectacular colour. I love photographing them, and try to capture them from different perspectives.

For this little bee, though, it's not about the view—it's about the next flower. 🐝 Moving from bloom to bloom, pollinators quietly keep our ecosystems thriving, one tiny visit at a time.

Here are a couple of snaps I took on while aboard the Molly Bawn Whale & Puffin Tours last weekend. We left from Mobile, NL out in the direction of Witless Bay, NL. If you zoom in, that cluster of birds are puffins, flying around in their silly way. We unfortunately didn’t see any whales or get close enough to photograph the puffins up close, but it was a beautiful day on the ocean! We did see a full wall of common murres, and some kittiwakes. What a fun experience!
